Now it was good. However, for the firat time the Okra was not quality. They were mixed up (some long and some chopped and cooked more than others), very stringy and too much slime. Trashed. Carrot cake was half the size, disappointing. Mashed up rice was not for me. Now the Basa fish was outstanding along with the curry goat. OMG they were mouth watering.

I must say the service was great my server was very pleasant howeverrrr my food was VERY SALTY OMG. I got the pepper stake rice and peas with oxtail gravy, fried chicken with white rice. Everything was over seasoned when my daughter couldn’t eat the food I now it was bad. The flavors were there but very salty.

I say this is one of the best restaurants in Philly. Their service is great, it was first time for me to try Caribbean food but they kindly answered all of my questions and helped me choose what to get. I love their Curry Goat with okra and plantain! And please try jerk chicken. Definitely the gem of Caribbean cuisine it is.

Ordered two platters on door dash I only got one. The chicken was pink in the middle and burnt outside. The okra was still hard. Rice dry as heck. I used to get nothing but good service from them besides the wait time. This food was actually disgusting.

Ron’s changed!. Used to be my spot for best carib food still very much got good food. But Curry goat can be salty, medium becomes large ( yes, I’ve been a customer for long time. We notice Ron) and please I don’t mind paying that extra 2.50 for the yams but it can be in side container not scram in right next to the meal.

Ron’s use to be a friendly welcoming place to go, the atmosphere has changed drastically recently. For instance today I was served by the manager (the bald guy with the glasses), he made feel like he did not want be bothered, when I asked a question he was short, I watched as he filled my order his demeanor was one of he did not like his job just doing it. Being in customer service more than 40 yrs., and being a manager myself, when he asked me to help him put my order in the bag I was blown away. I know the world is changing but is this what customer service has become?

I go to Ron’s every Sunday. It’s what my family and I do. And have done for years. This past Sunday 02/08/2026 I received my order. And it was perfect as usual. But my experience went straight to hell when I attempted to tip my server. And was told that they are no longer allowed to accept tips. So, I then asked if they received an increase to compensate for the financial lost. And was told ” no”. That the staff arrived Sunday morning to a note stating that they are no longer allowed to accept tips. This is horrible! I will not be returning until the workers receive an increase or they are able to accept tips. For the phenomenal service that they provide. The manager who was there tried his hardest to simmer the crowd and explained that he was just following orders and the owners were working on something to resolve this issue.

Lonstanding Philly establishment but service is always slow. Every single time. Regardless of whether you order in person or online.
They said it would take 10- 15 for my platters. It took 40 mins and the mgr/owner to ring me up. With 8 people working behind the counter, they were slow, ignored my concern after a 20 min wait, told me my food was coming, waited another 10 minutes for the woman to place my order on the counter and never ring me up. The mgr/owner rings me up, doesnt offer apologies & I left. Never let me check my food like others and ended up with 4 small basa nuggets. Never again. (6/2025)

Food is really good always taste well, however the service is poor. I waited in line for a phone order about 25 mins and this isn’t my 1st time. This location the workers always seem to have a nasty disposition. Like go work somewhere else if you don’t wanna work. Or better yet go back to Jamaica. Why come here to make money and have a nasty attitude. From answering the phone talking all low to the lines. You people are guest in this country why not be humble by that fact alone. If u don’t mind waiting at least an hour this place is cool but if u want to be appreciated and get your food in a timely manner go to the other location on rising sun. The people are just way better the service is way better.
