Excellent bbq in Independence. Have tried the brisket, smoked turkey, ham and burnt ends. All were tender with spot on smoke and seasoning. The green pea and cheese salad side took me back 50 years to our family picnics. Great place, great staff.

In town for work and lucked out with this place’s delicious food and really attentive staff. I had the ENORMOUS meatloaf sandwich, which was bigger than any burger I usually have somewhere. I added 3 ribs to my meal and a side of perfect deli-style potato salad. Really great value for the price.

What a treat. This ex body repair shop combines a cozy atmosphere with awesome food. Enjoy the lovely details inside and the even better food. The peas salad is phenomenal and the smoked chicken & ribs are fantastic. Don’t forget to try their BBQ sauces.

I got the ribs with fries and the beans. 10/10 food and service. Best BBQ I have had in soo long. Can get better the some KC BBQ! The atmosphere so cool with the car as the bar! Kept my family talking.

If you’re anywhere near Kansas City and craving real-deal barbecue, A Little BBQ Joint is an absolute must. It’s a cool, laid-back spot where the food is phenomenal, the service is top-notch, and the vibe is pure fun.

First off — the meats are smoked to perfection. The burnt ends are tender and flavorful, the brisket melts in your mouth, and even the sides (especially the hot potato salad and baked beans) deserve their own fan club. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and every bite tastes like it came straight from BBQ heaven.

And let’s talk about that car bar — yep, the front end of an old Chevy turned into the actual bar! The whole place has a fun, nostalgic feel with license plates, neon signs, and plenty of personality. You can tell the owners love what they do — it’s not just a restaurant, it’s a whole experience.

The staff are incredible — friendly, funny, and fast. You don’t just feel “served” here; you feel welcomed. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, they make you feel like part of the family.

Don’t skip the sauces — the “Sweet Sister” and “Mean Mother-in-Law” are legendary.

The decor is cute with cars, trucks and license plates. The ac is wonderful but the ventilation for the smoke coming from the kitchen makes your eyes and nose burn. The tables are sticky and the booth seats need desperately to be replaced instead of the pealing duct tape holing them together. The sauces are very unexciting, the kitchen staff spend majority of the time socializing vs getting the orders out. The greeting was more of a find a place to sit and we will be with you. The sweet tea was great, the wait for food is long! The baked beans were good but barely warmed the cheesy corn was good but again barely warm. The pulled pork was good again just warm, the burnt ends were good. The carpets really need a cleaning and the restrooms as well, the floors were not clean trash on floor, no hot water and no paper towels, the toilet did not flush and was not recently cleaned either. Not very impressed by this visit here. Our waitress was so very sweet and personable!

Absolutely horrible. The Friday special was supposed to be pulled pork with coleslaw. No coleslaw just a wad of greasy meat on a dry bun. The bbq beans tasted burnt. My girlfriend had brisket and sausage sandwich and the brisket was burned black. It was $40 and a 20% tip to boot and it all went straight into the trash. Bl3h. Oh and when I called to tell them about it, not wanting a refund or anything just to let them know, and the girl that answered the phone, after I said all I had to say, went “huh can you reheat that”. No I can’t thanks for ruining date night. Guess I’ll open a can of spaghettios since I blew $50 on the trash can already tonight.

This little place was a treat. Not to many people out and about today due to weather, but they were open! Burnt ends plate was excellent. Perfect unadulterated (no need for sauce). Hot potatoe salad, yum ! My husband’s brisket sandwich was very tasty as well.

I was surprised when I pulled up to find that a place with 3.5k reviews and 4.4 stars was empty. There were two or three people sitting at the bar when we walked in. All the workers just looked at us but no one greeted us. A quiet place with a couple of tvs but nothing on them other than some very quiet music. Odd first vibes.

The locals at the bar recommended a couple sandwiches after we asked what was good. Their response was “it all kinda tastes the same”. They were just in there drinking beer. Our beer was good and cold (pretty hard to mess that up). I got the two meat plate with brisket and pulled pork. Cream corn and fries as my sides.

I have never had a drier, more bland piece of brisket in my life. Even after soaking it in bbq it was not enjoyable at all. The pulled pork was a scoop of wet slop. It was OK at best but also required a ton of BBQ sauce. Creamed corn was like straight out of the can. Nothing special. The fries were the best part. I should have just ordered a big basket of those.

My friend was equally as impressed with the sandwich he got. Overall nice people in the end but we left unsatisfied and still hungry. We could have been there on an off night but from our experience, don’t lean on the 3.5k reviews.
