Damon is one of my favourite restaurants therefore, of we are local we tend to drive there for our celebrations. However it has changed over the years slightly. They use to serve you freshly baked bread, warm still with butter. The smell of fresh bread… . Nowadays are just mini rolls delivered to the restaurant. There used to have a mini pudding for the birthday girl/boy. That has gone too. There was a time when they’ve got you some wet wipes for your sticky fingers after the eating their glorious ribs… Not anymore. But despite those minuses, the birthday meal is still free, the ribs are still good, overall a good experience.

We visited Damon’s Restaurant to celebrate our daughter’s birthday, and it was a great choice. A lovely touch is that the birthday person eats for free — such a generous offer. The ribs are excellent as always; although we missed the old Char Sui option, the bourbon ribs were absolutely delicious.
It’s a lively restaurant with lots of great offers, like half-price drinks before 6pm, and while it can get a bit noisy, that’s all part of the atmosphere. A fantastic place to celebrate and enjoy good food.

We haven’t been for a couple of years , we have been visiting since it first opened 35+ years ago , it’s not as good as in it’s heyday you used to get a warm malt loaf to start , now it’s just a generic white bap,it’s had its ups and downs with quality but I believe it’s back up there where it used to be.
We both chose the large combo platter, I had full rack or ribs in BBQ sauce and 1/2 a chicken with Teriyaki sauce , both cooked to perfection
My partner has the sugar pork chops and chicken both in Teriyaki sauce , also cooked to perfection
Portion sizes were good and served on larger plates, they used to be small plastic plates , we also had the famous Onion Loaf again excellent , I have never found anywhere else that sells onion loaf it’s definitely worth trying
There was a offer on with 20% off food and 50% off drinks
It came to £70.77 , for the portion sizes I thought it was good value , that included the onion load and two cocktails

I thought this was a very good deal, you eat free on your birthday and I got 20% off because either we dined before 5pm or was over 60 year old, it was £28 for me including a pint of lager. Some great choice of American inspired food. We all had different combo platters.

Was very busy, security on the door too. got there around 19:00 and alot of parents with their kids who took advantage of the kids eat free from earlier, also any birthdays too you eat free.
Most of the staff are young and rushed off their feet, forgetful at times too.
I would say as food goes it’s ok with lots of choice and something for everyone, I went with the mixed kebab, the quality isn’t great though.

Visited the restaurant as a large family booking of 17. Despite the large booking size, we were not asked to pre-order our food (something we are all used to doing and happy to) but this meant that ordering took a long time and inevitably led to mistakes. We are understanding people and our server did a great job, but despite our large table, we only had one person serving us even though there were numerous servers stood around the restaurant just having conversations with each other (including the manager and assistant manager.) We requested to the manager that perhaps our server could have some help but this resulted in the assistant manager questioning and embarrassing our server in front of us. He told us that “it’s always done this way” and said to the server “you’re not struggling, are you?” It was uncomfortable to watch. Our food took nearly 1 hour 45 minutes after our booking time to arrive at our table which was really tough as we had 7 hungry and bored children to manage too.
The food was fine, but the experience was enough to put us all off from coming again. Would not recommend for large groups at all.
There were also lots of menu items not available, apparently this is due to the restaurant getting a new menu, but this could have been communicated to us at booking so we were at least prepared. A vegetarian guest had barely anything to chose from.

Can’t fault it. Good experience from telephone reservation to leaving door man’s thanks. Half rack was great and fish option excellent. Staff here are so pleasant and attentive, making you feel welcome and special. Drinks a bit pricey but served quickly. My compliments to the manager, spot on.

I went there for my birthday and it was great, really helpful and caring staff, reasonable priced food and a good choice on the menu, it does get really busy at the weekends, they love it when there is a celebration as they do make you feel special, you also get a free birthday meal
