After Hurricane Hugo, we converted what was once Tony’s Italian Food to the Golden Egg Pancake House. Tony’s Italian Food was originally known as Tony’s Pizza, and had been a popular hangout for the local high school back in the ’80s. However, with pizza becoming more popular and the big pizza chains taking off like crazy, my parents converted it to Tony’s Italian Food. But then, as pizza grew more popular, so did Italian food, and Italian restaurants started springing up everywhere. Deciding to bring something fresh to the area, my parents converted their business to a place where people could get a good breakfast at an affordable price. We believe that there are no shortcuts when it comes to great food.

I was excited to write this review because we’ve been here several times over the last 4 years vacationing in Myrtle Beach. However I was disappointed in the eggs Benedict. The eggs were more hard boiled than pouched. And the hollandaise was thick and cold.

The food was good, and even though it was pretty crowded when we arrived, the staff served us surprisingly fast. I ordered the Carolina omelet with regular pancakes. The pancakes were good, but I wish I had tried one of the flavored ones—I think that would have been even better. I also had the cheese grits, but I didn’t care for them too much. They tasted more like cream of wheat than true Southern grits to me, but my husband actually enjoyed them. The omelet had sautéed green peppers, which added great flavor. I had SPINACH in the place of the mushroom, it had to many onions. Next time ill definitely ask for light onions. We also ordered a chicken quesadilla to go, and my son devoured it so fast I didn’t even get a chance to take a picture! So it had to be delicious .
Overall, I wouldn’t say it’s a “we have to rush back immediately” type of restaurant, but it is definitely a hidden gem if you’re looking for a comforting, home-cooked style meal and an amazing staff.

We decided to make a stop by the Golden Egg on the morning of our annual beach departure. My Aunt made the recommendation and we needed a breakfast redemption after have a horrible experience at Omega Pancake House (please avoid that place at all costs!). Golden Egg Pancake House did not disappoint and absolutely lived up to the hype that my Aunt was telling us about. It was a Sunday morning and I expected to wait at least an hour for a table but they were only running about 15-20 minutes for seating of a party of 4. The restaurant was huge and had plenty of seating. After being seating, we were immediately greeted and placed drink orders.
We enjoyed EVERYTHING we ordered and unlike Omega Pancake House EVERYTHING WAS FRESH! The food was delicious and exactly what we needed to fill our belly’s and prepare for a 7 hour drive home. My mother loved her chip beef gravy and said it tasted exactly like my grandmothers. My boyfriend’s breakfast quesadilla was HUGE and packed with all the meats, and my scrambled eggs and cheese, sausage patties, and French toast was so tasty! The only thing we did not enjoy was the iced coffee.
Please make this a must go the next time you are looking to enjoy a fresh and filling breakfast. We will absolutely be back next year when we’re in town for vacation.

This was the best breakfast I have had in a very long time. I ordered Pancakes and Sausage and they were delicious. My son loved his Philly Cheese Steak. I was really impressed with the meal and experience.

This place was nice. I really enjoyed my breakfast. The service there was nice. The food was made to order. So it was still hot when you got it. It’s a nice vibe.. the wait wasn’t long. The only down to it is that they don’t have a waiting area. You have to wait in your car till you get buzzed. But don’t let that stop you from going its still a great place to eat.

Good breakfast, quick service. We had the Goldie’s Nutella pancakes, breakfast burrito, French toast and the Golden Egg special. Parking on site but it can be tight depending on timing. We were there early but by the time we left the parking lot was full.

First time. The outside doesn’t justify what’s inside. Not that its bad. Just the inside is very nice and well kept. Roomy and very busy for 8am Sunday in November.
I had eggs perfectly scrambled lightly. Liver mush which is difficult to get right. Mine was right. Grits and toast.
My Wife had the same except she got perfectly cooked crispy bacon. Grits were a bit on the hominy Grit size.
Coffee was good and we had a great server named Kay. She was on time, nice and knew the business. We’ll be coming back.

Always excellent food!! Service was great as well! Usually a bit noisy but it is because they are so busy- but the food is always on point!!

Food was absolutely delicious and came out quick! Our server was okay.. I ran out of a drink and she only checked on us once which was 5 minutes after our food came out. But overall, it was a good experience.

What a good find. Good food and good prices. Lots of options including old favorites as well as delicious new ones. Very popular among the locals and they even have a wall of personalize mugs for their returning customers. Staff were excellent and attentive checking on their tables and others. Lot’s of seating inside, and parking around the building and back of the adjacent building. It’s a must stop.
