If you’re looking for the perfect combination of fresh Gulf seafood, great atmosphere, and unbeatable service, look no further than Floyd’s Shrimp House on Okaloosa Island. My wife and I visited recently with another couple, and from start to finish it was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in the area.
We kicked things off with the gator bites appetizer, which set the tone right away — crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor. For our entrées, my wife went with a classic shrimp platter that came out piled high and cooked to perfection. I ordered the 10oz sirloin steak with potatoes, and I’ve got to say it was one of the best steaks I’ve had locally — perfectly cooked, juicy, and well-seasoned. Our friends ordered an oyster platter and another sirloin, and everyone at the table agreed: not a single complaint. The portions were generous, everything came out hot, and the flavors were spot on. Between the four of us, we spent just under $100, which felt like a great value considering the quality and portion sizes.
The service was flawless. Our server was friendly, professional, and attentive without hovering. Drinks were refilled promptly, food came out quickly despite how busy it was, and we never once felt rushed. It’s clear that the staff here takes pride in making sure their guests are taken care of.
What really makes Floyd’s stand out, though, is the atmosphere. The restaurant has covered outdoor seating overlooking the emerald-green waters of the Gulf, and there’s truly nothing like enjoying a meal with that view. Add in the live music on stage and the relaxed dim lighting, and it creates an unforgettable setting. The vibe was equal parts fun and laid-back — perfect for couples, families, or a group of friends looking to soak up the best of Okaloosa Island.
Between the atmosphere, the service, and the food (which we all agreed is some of the best on the island), Floyd’s Shrimp House absolutely delivered. We left full, happy, and already talking about coming back.
Highly recommend this spot to locals and visitors alike. If you’re in Fort Walton Beach or nearby Destin, make Floyd’s Shrimp House a must-stop on your list. We’ll definitely be back!

Went in for the all you can eat shrimp from 4-6 daily. It was delicious and worth the money!! And you can’t beat the views of the pier at sunset from the deck out the back of the restaurant.

After leaving McGuires (did not stay to eat) just see other review) we stopped at Floyd’s Shrimp House. Our waiter was Jalean and he delivered a cold beer to the table very quickly. Checked on us a couple times, never waited for drinks. The food came out pretty fast, we both ordered fried flounder, fries and slaw, delicious!

Our first time here. Our waitress Alena was amazing! She answered all of our questions! The food was very good! We sat outside and watched the view of the ocean. We will be back to see Alena!

Food was good, we went for the $16 ayce meal and it had fried popcorn shrimp and fried fish. The atmosphere was fun and it’s on a beach so our neighbors were half naked but that’s part of the beach experience. Service was absolutely amazing idk our servers name (he had red hair) but he was amazing and attentive.

Rich was our server, we came right at open and were seated promplly. We ordered an appetizer and our entrees. Food came out incredibly fresh and very delicious
The AYCE deals offer a great value and are well prepared.
The ribs and sirloin kebabs were cooked very well, tender, and delicious.
Rich’s customer service was really a step ahead. Quick to tend to our needs, very kind, and kept the mood light and enjoyable every time he visited our table.

Only reason I gave service a 3 star was because we go there every time we are in town and this trip we went twice. The first night the guy seating us wouldn’t let us sit by the window. It was a 6 top and he told us they were getting ready for the “busy time” and they needed the bigger table for larger groups then proceeded to sit us at a table with 8 seats and the very next family to come in had 4 and he sat them at the table I had just asked about. We only had 4 as well. And the entire time we sat there the “busy time” never happened. Only about 4 more tables were filled.
Also our waiter left our drinks empty the entire time we ate until he finally came back at the end and we asked him to fill them.
However, the next time we had the most amazing waitress who was very tentative and check on us all the time and had the kitchen already starting the all you can eat shrimp and fish before we even asked so it was ready and she brought it out as soon as she saw someone was empty without anyone even asking for it!
As far as the atmosphere, it was only because in the winter they don’t have the outside or upstairs open and it’s really fun when all that is up and running. So I highly suggest you go during warmer weather if possible. We have done both. Even my kids liked the vibe outside, especially if you can get one of the tables upstairs next to the beach!

(Written by my 10 year old) Floyd’s is five stars. Always choose outside seating because you get quicker service outside. Also, you get a great view of the ocean if you sit outside. There are signs that say “SEAGULLS ARE AGRESSIVE DO NOT FEED,” but I would definitely recommend feeding them. ( ) The food is very good and fills you up fast. I got the fried/popcorn shrimp, and I would recommend it. The server was super nice and had cool tattoos. There are cool Wikki Sticks instead of crayons and coloring sheets. I made some cool glasses with them. Also, there are some very mindful pigeons. This is one of the best seafood places I’ve ever been to. 5 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I hadn’t been to this restaurant in years. I was recently told by a few locals that I needed to go and check it out again! I was very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was clean, the food was delicious the atmosphere was lovely. The prices are reasonable. Our waiter was a young man who was very attentive. The manager came over to our table and checked on us. I complimented him on how nice the restaurant is and what a great job he’s doing! It’s so nice to go to a local restaurant that you know is going to provide good service, good food and great atmosphere. I recommend this restaurant.

We really enjoyed our night out here. This is a nice cozy spot. Whether out alone, on a date or a family outing this is a great spot. Get there early. There was a short wait. The atmosphere was noisy and busy.. All of this was well worth da wait. The menu is packed with traditional seafood. A range of various beverages. And so much more. The service was kind of not so good. But, understandable due to it being the weekend and crowded. Our server got us right though. She was great. They offer a wide variety of foods outside of seafood. I was there for the oysters though. They have their oysters in several ways. I love em raw! Boi they didn’t disappoint me either. Hot sauce and crackers. I was in oyster heaven. My FUTURE ordered a rack of ribs. She stated that they were moist and cooked as if she cooked them herself. So, needless to say they were falling off da bone. And finger licking good!
