I had the chef’s special omelette with hash browns. It was more than delicious. Cooked perfectly. Seasoned well. At the restaurant you sit around around the counter on stools. Nice atmosphere. Excellent staff. I would definitely go back here again to eat.

Hands down one of the best diners in NOLA. Their plates are well portioned, seasoned, and priced. I need to get their hamburger steak plate and juicy poboys again

The staff and cooks were super friendly as well and love the retro vibes. Definitely will be back! 10/10.

Not a bad spot if you want to get out of downtown via the trolley. One thing you should know is that it’s counter service only, no tables or banquets. If you have a hard time this would be the only drawback. You might get harassed a little bit by the servers but it’s all in good fun.

Classic diner counter service with delicious food you see made before your eyes. Super friendly staff that takes very good care of you and actually take the time to talk to you. Order a chili cheese omelette and a chocolate freeze. It’s delicious, but you will need a nap afterwards!

It’s the Camellia Grill! Pretty famous spot, been there forever and it’s easy to see why. Boyfriend got a Roast Beef poboy and I had an Omlette. Excellent. What I really love is the service though and that it feels so much like eating at a friend’s house who are great cooks. They just serve you when it’s ready….here’s your Omlette, here’s your hash browns 5 minutes later…cool! It tastes like food I can make, but just so much better and really is so authentic New Orleans in every way and I love it. Forever a favorite spot since I was a kid. The Pecan pie, tastes like someone’s grandma makes it, it’s perfect.

Went here because it’s historic, but unfortunately, I think they lean on that a bit too much. Our server was meek and not all that enthused to be helping us. Everything we ordered was wrong in some way (wrong cheeses, wrong sides). Took forever to flag her down for a coffee refill, which I got but after I was done with my meal. I love a good lunch counter, but I’ve experienced better service at a Waffle House.

The Camellia Grill feels like stepping into a classic American diner frozen in time — in the best way. The old-school counter seating and friendly banter from the staff give it a lively, nostalgic charm that’s hard to find these days.

I stopped in for breakfast, and it was exactly what I wanted: hearty, comforting, and cooked right in front of you. The omelet was fluffy, the hash browns were crisp, and their famous pecan pie lived up to the hype — rich, sweet, and totally indulgent.

Overall, it’s not just about the food; it’s the experience. It’s a true New Orleans institution that feels warm, familiar, and full of personality.

Judy’s Omelette with a side of hash browns (even though I ordered grits). Food was tasty. The diner is rather cramped.

It was more than a meal – it was an experience. The staff was so kind and friendly, and the atmosphere was perfect. It’s small, but I’d happily wait in line to get to eat here again. Lots of customs and traditions, such as how the waiter gives you a straw. Quality service and food. They also offer a full menu all day, and my kids loved getting burgers for breakfast.

Great atmosphere, food and service, old diner style sitting at a counter, staff very entertaining while you wait for your food and during, certainly an experience worth trying for lunch.
