Warm and welcoming! Will stay again for sure. Great home-style food, lovely community vibe. Had taco salad that evening, then omelet with hash browns for breakfast. Great coffee. Note: if GPS tells you to turn left onto Chellis Rd…don’t do it. The drive to the site is BEFORE that left turn.

We had a Kayak trip planned with Carters General Store. They assisted us with setting up the trip and provided a shuttle from Brockneal to Leesville Lake. They were very friendly and responsive about planning questions. We stopped by the General Store for dinner before starting our adventure and enjoyed some fried Catfish, and their famous El Ray sandwich. Thank you for the hospitality!

Kyle and Cherrie were fantastic! They helped us plan our Kayak trip from Leesville Lake to Brookneal and shuttled us to our drop in location. We stopped to get dinner at their store, had the fried catfish, famous Elray sandwich and the Apple pie! All of it was delicious and we got to enjoy the live music as well. Can’t wait to come back!

I remember visiting this store as a child with my Papa when Calvin ran it. So many great memories there! It is fantastic to see it have so much life again! They’ve got an expanded menu but you can still get the bologna and hoop cheese! They carry scoop ice cream as well. There is often live music as well. It’s just a great little store you have to check out if you’re near the area!
