I’m so glad my youngest (14,16) grands are adventurous when it comes to trying foods from other cultures. Fogonero is tucked into a newish strip center near the old Cedar Park Walmart. Grandsons were out of the country for Christmas and we wanted to give them their gift and take them to lunch. I gave them several options based on yelp recommendations and they decided they wanted to try Venezuelan food. Great choice boys!!!
This property is smallish but quaint with adequate seating for lucky diners who have experienced the food and have come back or for first timers like our party.
Wilson who took care of us provided exceptional service, and made excellent suggestion as to what we should try. All of us had had empanadas before, but that was the extent of our knowledge of their delicious menu. We did indeed get the Empanada Sampler which had four different mini empanadas. Combo of fried corn dough stuffed with ground beef, shredded beef, chicken, and cheese with cilantro, and garlic aioli. We cut them up so that everybody could experience them. Best ever! Cooked perfectly, golden brown, and delicious! We also tried a beef & cheese stuffed Arepa. It was huge and also stellar!
Based on Wilson’s advice two of us tried the Pabello Criolla :Shredded beef accompanied with rice, black beans, fried sweet plantains, avocado, fried cheese and a fried egg on top. It was so tasty!!! My grandson that’s a pasta lover tried the Fosforera Linguini -Seafood linguini Venezuelan style. He enjoyed it. The serving size is more than adequate so we all took part of our meal home to enjoy for dinner that night. The one diner that was not open to trying non-familiar food really enjoyed his Bacon Cheeseburger with all the toppings and properly salted home-made fries. He rarely if ever compliments food but said it was the best burger he’s had in quite some time and he really liked the fries too so there is SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE at FOGONERO. I also have to add that every one of our dishes was seasoned to perfection and I’m sure that added to our enjoyment of them.
I would highly recommend that you travel to Cedar Park (from near and far) and give this delightful restaurant a try!!

The food here was AMAZING! And our server Will was friendly and attentive. We had the mini empanadas and yuca sticks for appetizer. Both superb! They also had an avocado cream sauce and another spicier sauce on the side. Sampled them first to determine the spice level, I was so pleasantly surprised that I would have ordered these condiments as a meal themselves. The husband got the yellowfin tuna as his main and I got shredded beef, with rice, eggs, plantains, black beans, avocado and fried cheese. It was the perfect combination of flavors. Husband said his meal kicked like Van Damme. Please give this place a try. If you’re unsure what to get, ask for recommendations! I didn’t take pictures of everything, but I am posting a couple.

Today I celebrated my birthday. Wilson made sure that I had an amazing birthday & dinner too. His service was exceptional, the food exquisite from appetizers to delicious fresh strawberry, papaya and lemonade drinks . The dinner and desserts were delicious! Food was DELICIOUS. Everything we ate was a definite repeater. Service- the girl was super friendly, not much of an English speaker but she tried and we were okay with it. She gave great food recommendations. Atmosphere was what you would expect in a strip ce ter but clean. We will be back!

My Venezuelan friend took me here so that I could experience Venezuelan food for the first time. It was DELICIOUS! We weren’t very hungry, so we didn’t order a lot of food. We had the tequenos, which were perfectly fried and came with a delicious sauce. I’m vegetarian so for our entree we shared a cachapa with queso de mano. This was SO delicious! And my Venezuelan friend really liked it too! It was fresh, cooked perfectly, and so rich and decadent! Our server was very attentive and friendly.

I asked to make sure there is no cilantro in their soup, and the server asked me what it was. Then the soup came with a layer of cilantro on top. After I picked them all out, I realized the chicken in my soup was so tough I literally could not chew through it and had to spit it out. Also, the big screen on the TV was playing inappropriate music videos with graphic strip club scenes. I asked them to change the channel, but they didn’t. The people in the videos were all kissing each other. I’m not a prude, but I was with my 6-year-old son, and this place has a children’s menu. To have soft core porn-like things displayed on the big TV when you’re expecting children in your establishment is wild! Will never return due to the food, not the TV, though.

Wow, we just had an exceptionally good meal at Fogonero. We enjoyed the fresh, high quality ingredients and food cooked to perfection. That salad….avocado and hearts of palm. So good. The steak was to die for.
