Tucked away behind the National Museum in Fredericksburg, Texas, Emi’s Fresh-Mex is a cantina that has a very tasty selection of original dishes. From the moment we walked in, we were captivated by the well-decorated and brightly lit interior, which created a warm and inviting atmosphere. We were also delighted to find a spacious outdoor eating area adorned with festive banners, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal on a beautiful day.

For our dinner, we decided on the Carnita Papitas. The dish was a delicious and creative take on a Tex-Mex classic, perfectly blending savory carnitas with crispy waffle fries and queso fresco. To complement our food, we had the house Marg and a refreshing Summer Spritz. Both drinks were expertly crafted, making for a truly enjoyable experience.

The entire visit was a delight, from the charming ambiance to the fantastic food and drinks. We highly recommend this Tex-Mex cantina on your next visit to Fredericksburg! Salute!!

As a GenX-er save your time and energy and skip this place. I always give a place a second shot and I’ve gotta say, Emi truly fell lower on the ladder than my previous visit. Don’t get me wrong; if you’re looking for $8 (single) tacos on a paper boat, $4 canned sodas, NO ICE, humid indoor temps, counter service that asks for tips and room temp water at the back counter (again…no ice), than this is your place. I guess it’s what the millennial’s are giving good reviews about. Not this guy! $100 for 3 tacos, burger and a “bowl” (whomever made that concept should be slapped), is not my idea of a meal, and shouldn’t be yours as well.
Skip it and go elsewhere for your hard earned money.

Great little spot for lunch (and dinner). The service was outstanding- the person taking the order was so very nice and polite as was everyone else there. You order outside at a window and they give you a buzzer when your food is ready. Ordered the bowl and it was excellent. Had the chicken tinga added to the bowl. A nice portion over all and nice sized portions of everything. Sat outside on the picnic benches – beautiful day to sit outside- July in Texas, who knew you could comfortably sit outside without a fan?? They also had the little fly fans on every table which I felt was nice (and appreciated). Loved the landscaping- they had all kinds of plants planted and all looked healthy and happy. Love seeing that.

Really good tacos. A little on the pricy side. We enjoyed sitting outside with our dogs. We went twice during our trip. My wife really liked the chicken tender tacos. I am more traditional and liked the ground beef and the carne asada.

WOW. When I say I crave their food everyday I’m not exaggerating. Fredericksburg is our favorite weekend trip from Austin for a lot of reasons, but one of the biggest is getting to eat at Emi’s.

The main strip seriously needed a spot like this, and Emi’s absolutely delivered. The food is always on point, consistently amazing, and the vibe is exactly what you want after a day of walking around town/vineyards.

I met the owner on a previous visit, and it honestly made me love the place even more. You can tell how much they care about the food and the overall experience — something you don’t come across very often. Emi’s is a must every single time we’re in Fredericksburg.

Must Try: GUAC (duh), chicken tinga bowl and all drinkies. literally cant go wrong with everything here.

@ owner please open a place in Austin. Too good to not share

Alright. I think this might be the best burger in town. It’s got everything you want: well-seasoned, well-smashed patties, melty cheese, and a special sauce that knows when to stop. And then there’s a pile of very crispy, very hot, tallow-fried waffle fries on the side. Honestly, can’t believe it took me this long to finally order the burger. Already craving my next….

(PSA while I’m here: great spot for kids, especially outside. There’s a gate to keep ’em in!)

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I’m definitely a weekly regular at this point, and for good reason. Every meal I’ve had here has been amazing, and everyone I bring along ends up loving it too.

Let me just say—the Chicken Tinga Bowl is everything. I’m obsessed. And when I’m feeling a little extra, I dip some waffle fries in the queso… total game-changer. You can really taste how fresh everything is, and the flavors are just so good. You really couldn’t ask for more.

One experience that totally blew me away—I ordered online for pickup, but got caught up with work and didn’t make it in time. I called to say no worries, just let the order go. But Marc took it upon himself to deliver it to me after they had already closed. He didn’t have to do that at all, but he did—and it honestly meant so much.

Huge thanks to Marc for going above and beyond, and to Emily for creating food that seriously brings me joy. Emi’s has my heart, and I’ll keep coming back (and bringing people with me!)

Here on a Tuesday and food and service was great. We got the chips/queso, torta and the frozen summer spritz. My only complaint was the torta. My fault because I didn’t read the menu lol. Wish it was more like the traditional torta with onions, cilantro, beans and mayo. But still very good and light. Their asada was super tender and the emi’s sauce it came with was legit. Great selection of drinks and beers and plenty of seating. Will forsure be back when in Fredericksburg

Emis is what Fredericksburg has been missing! The tacos are amazing with homemade tortillas, the bowl is ELITE and what Fredericksburg has been missing. Such a healthy and clean place to catch a great meal and such an amazing family friendly experience! Highly recommend this unique experience in downtown Fredericksburg, caddy corner to the Nimitz museum.
