Matchbox in Pentagon City is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a reliable meal in a prime location. The restaurant is impressively spacious, spread across two floors with large seating areas that keep the atmosphere energetic without feeling crowded. It is an ideal spot for a post-shopping meal or a get-together with friends.
The service was a major highlight of my visit. The staff was consistently friendly and attentive, ensuring the meal flowed smoothly without ever being overbearing. I stopped in for brunch and decided to try one of their pizzas. While the pizza was certainly good and satisfying, it didn’t quite reach “amazing” territory for me. It is a solid, dependable option, though perhaps not the absolute best I’ve ever had.
Overall, the combination of the multi-level layout and the excellent service makes this a high quality dining experience. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their brunch menu in the future.

Overall it was a solid experience, we went for early lunch/brunch and were happy to know both menus were available. We started off with the biscuits and roasted Brussels sprouts sprouts, both were great.
For mains we ordered the slider trio (its technically an appetizer) and the Fire & Smoke pizza. The pizza didn’t look that appetizing but the flavor was packed! It was punchy and had some heat.

We were snowed in while shopping at the Pentagon Mall and decided to wait the snow out..best idea Ever! We were greeted by Jennifer who was a breath of fresh air, I requested a manager to speak to because of her greeting was so warm and inviting..she stated she was lol so I knew the service would be on point and it was!
Our server was JD.. if you are ever dine here please request him..it was my husband’s birthday weekend and this man treated us like royalty!
To say he went over and beyond would be an understatement..JD you made our birthday/snowday a Joy..your generosity meant the world to Us. Keep spreading that Sir your graced for it.. ohh..lol th vibe is nice,very clean and the food was great! That steak pizza omg!!
I also don’t remember the cocktail is was custom for the bday boy it was delicious!

I came here with a party of twelve during my best friend’s wedding week, and Matchbox Pentagon City turned out to be the great choice. The vibe is lively but relaxed, and it handled a big group really well without ever feeling chaotic.
The food was exactly what you want from an upscale‑casual spot. I ordered the crispy chicken burger, which was crunchy and satisfying, and everyone at the table found something they liked on the menu.
What really made the night, though, was the service. My best friend had been covering my meals the entire week (they wouldn’t let me pay), and I wanted to return the favor by secretly paying for their food and drinks.
I pulled our server aside and explained the situation, and they didn’t miss a beat. When the check came, the server ran my friend’s bill on my card, and helped keep the surprise completely under wraps. And my server did so with class and humor.
That small act of going along with my plan meant a lot. I got more than food; I got experience. For that alone, I’d absolutely recommend Matchbox Pentagon City for any special gathering or group dinner. And I’m leaving more than 20 percent tip next time.

We had Jason as our server today, and he was excellent from start to finish. He took great care of us, made sure everything came out quickly, and helped us choose a pepperoni and hot honey pizza, one of his personal favorites, which absolutely hit the mark and quickly became one of ours too.

Shoddy service during non-peak hours with less than half the restaurant full of patrons. I say this because if the service was terrible then I’d give some grace if the restaurant wasn’t busy, or even if the waitress was friendly. Neither was the case here.
I brought my two sons in for some pizza, we ordered an Aldo’s pizza for them to split and went half cheese half pepperoni. I had a $32 “steak and egg” which ended up being 5 thin slices of steak on eggs.
The waitress was dismissive. The pizza came with no plates. It took her 20+ minutes to get them. All three of us ran out of water, another 10 minute wait. Short one word answers and a cold attitude from the waitress. We kindly asked for light cheese on the pizza and she said OK. Didn’t write it down and the pizza certainly wasn’t light on the cheese.
The food tasted OK, but for the price I would expect some better service.
This restaurant benefits from its location and will always have patrons no matter shoddy the service is. The payment kiosk defaults at a 20-22% tip, which I think is fine, but in this case a bit presumptive, considering the waitress didn’t do her job.

“One of” thee best bottomless brunches in the DMV if you ask me. Everything came out quick and fresh. Wings could be a little more crispy but the flavor was all the way there. Everything else was soooo good … Chicken & Waffles was probably my favorite. Our server Mahmood or Mohammed (sorry if i spelled your name wrong) was one of the best parts about this brunch. Patient, attentive, and most of all respectful. He made our experience way better than it already was. The hostess was so helpful as well. We asked for a different seating arrangement and she accommodated us without hesitation. She was really one of the MVPs of the brunch. Overall… This staff is top notch, well trained and you can tell. BRAVO

I went with a large group of people for a weeknight dinner and we ordered a ton of yummy food and drinks for the table. I liked the NA watermelon agua fresca and my friends liked the smoked old-fashioned. We got cheesy bread for the table some of us liked it it-I didn’t it was very thin. The food overall was well liked; I got a Cobb salad that had a good flavor and many of us loved the fresh pizzas. The restaurant is very clean and organized. The only serious issue we had was with our server. I’m not sure if she was very new or there was a language barrier but we had constant issues from the start. We had to ask multiple times for water and didn’t get any until after the appetizers were served. Food was slow to make it to the table-not the end of the world but it would have been nice if our server checked up on us more, also had issues asking for the check. I think I would come here again for the drinks!

This is a very young and active place with multiple floors. It is a bit loud but at least the music is good. The booth area are not wheelchair accessible, there is single seats to the back of the restaurant. Food was good but can be better.
