Inspired by her travels, chef Ayesha Nurdjaja prepares an approachable menu of seasonal Levantine specialties designed for sharing. Out of the bustling open kitchen, Nurdjaja is cooking up bright flavorful dips, vegetable-forward mezze and salads, charcoal-grilled meats and house-baked breads.
Bustling destination with chef’s tables, turning out kebabs and seafood specialties.

Reviews
We celebrated our anniversary at Shukette and had such a memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, the energy in the space was vibrant and welcoming. We were seated at the chef’s counter in the middle of the open kitchen, which made the night feel even more special. Watching the chefs prepare and plate the dishes added an interactive, immersive element that we truly enjoyed.
The food was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. The atmosphere is lively and the playlist was everything!
What truly stood out was how the team acknowledged our anniversary. They surprised us with complimentary sides and desserts, which was such a generous and thoughtful gesture. It made the evening feel personalized and celebratory without being overdone.
Overall, Shukette delivered not just a great meal, but a full experience. We left feeling celebrated and well taken care of. Highly recommend for a special occasion or a fun, energetic night out in NYC.
Highly recommend!
We were warmly greeted by the hostess and the restaurant manager (who happened to be at the host stand – very professional!). We had a great booth right next to the window, but I wish we had sat at the bar so I could watch Chef in action (next time!).
The meal was delicious, perfect for family-style sharing and noshing! Everything was fantastic, perfectly prepared, and beautifully presented. The flavors are so cool and unique, but also familiar and comforting.
This was a meal that left me wanting more and I will definitely be back. The place is very popular, so it is best to arrive right around peak dining time or you will most likely have to wait in line.
Our server Oriella is wonderful, as well as other staffs, they were all super friendly and lovely. I absolutely adore the experience and would totally come back to try more dishes.
The standouts were incredible:
Shakshuka Braised Heirloom Butter Beans — rich, flavorful, and totally unique.
Grass-Fed Shish Kebab — perfectly seasoned and cooked.
Not Your Average Hummus and the Beet Tzatziki — fun, delicious, and definitely not average!
The staff was warm and on point, and the energy of the place is great. The indoor dining room looked amazing, but they were fully booked, so we’ll definitely try again for indoor seating next time.
Great location near the subway, delicious dishes across the board, and genuinely fantastic service. Highly recommend Shukette!
Every dish is fantastic.
* The Frena is MUST. It’s fully and soft like cloud with crispy bottom.
* Hummus was the best I’ve ever had.
* Squash had this great contrasting texture between the caramelized full-of-fiber skin and the soft, sweet, juicy inside.
* Beef kebab was juicy and tender
* Fish was marinated with lemon and some herb so it’s lightweight tender and refreshing
* we had the ice cream with apple and tahini twist together. I’d prefer it to be all tahini.
Went back at 6:45 on a Monday and had to wait 20 minutes. I reserved dining room and was sat in the covered outdoor space. My feet were NUMB from the freezing draft! Service was slow. Food was still incredible. Would definitely return but only reserving bar seating until the summer.
Here is everything I tried:
Not your average hummus: silky, smooth and delicious
Frena: soft, fluffy and warm. This was so good that I ordered it twice. Loved the roasted garlic on top.
Braised butter beans: warm, comforting and tangy. A surprisingly tangy take on butter beans. This was a warm hug on a cold winter night. Absolutely devoured it.
Joojeh Chicken: cannot describe how juicy and rich this was. Pair this with the garlic and hot sauce and it’s a perfect combo. The saffron used in the marinade was sooo delicate and brought an amazing aroma to the entire dish and kitchen.
Boureka: stuffed with sweet potatoes and goat cheese, this was a sweet and flaky take on bread.
Loved the entire open kitchen concept where you could see all of your food being grilled to absolute perfection.
