I have been to the Blue Mussel several times over the past years, but this recent visit in September was fantastic. We went as soon as they opened for lunch to beat the crowds. The service was amazing, and the lobster roll was the best I have had in the Maritimes. They also made one of the best cocktails I have ever tried, their salt spray maple espresso martini. You can view the sea from their window seats, and there is a small beach across the street.

This was definitely my family’s favourite meal during our visit to PEI. We got the PEI mussels in the rosemary flavour and oysters caught that morning from Rustico Bay – the mussels came in a large portion and the flavours were spot on. We also got the lobster roll with potato salad as our main. Lobster was plentiful and fresh. Potato salad was delicious and did not feel overly creamy like some others.
The atmosphere having it sit on Rustico bay was so nice. The staff were so friendly and answered all our questions. I’d definitely recommend anyone visiting PEI to come try the food, even if it means going out of your way!!

We enjoyed an awesome lunch here. Reserving your spot on the online waiting list is strongly advised so you’re not waiting for long. The lobster dip was perfection! The haddock and bubbly seafood bake were also divine! Great servers were very friendly and efficient. Definitely recommend this spot for a great seafood meal!!

Best restaurant in PEI during my short trip. Excellent food, great service (a little slow), and an amazing location. It’s on the pricier side but the food was fantastic. Highly recommend the mussels, seared halibut, chowder, and halibut tacos.
Restaurant fills up extremely fast so avoid busy times or go at opening. Wait times can reach 2+ hours!!

The Blue Mussel Cafe was so awesome we came back for a second night!
We had the mussels, which were buttery and flavourful. Oysters were fresh and fantastic. The chef prepared 3 large halibut that came in fresh in the morning. Very well seasoned, done medium, and very moist. Served with fresh local potatoes and carrots. I had it again the second night!
Parking was a gong show, but they are moving to a new location next season, which should help. Be sure to get on the wait list ahead of when you want to be seated (online).

I can’t say more about the seafood chowder! It’s amazing and a MUST if you dine here. It was the best I had 10yrs ago and even BETTER this year! And don’t get me started on their dessert Pecan Tart!! Try it!

Amazing! From the service to the food everything about our experience was exceptional 🙂 The Lobster dip was to die for. Tried the haddock and mussel bucket as well which were really good. Our server Heidi was very friendly which made the experience even better. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful setting with a stunning sunset and friendly service, our waitress, Ella, was especially kind and attentive. However, the food felt overpriced for what was offered. The lobster dish was flavourful and nicely presented, and while the market price for lobster is understandable, the portion of sides (vegetables and potatoes) was quite small for a $60 plate. Dessert was also enjoyable but noticeably overpriced for its size.
A lovely place to enjoy the view and atmosphere, but the value for money, especially regarding sides and desserts, could be improved.

Blue Mussel Café is an absolute gem! Every bite bursts with fresh, local flavor, seafood perfection at its finest. The waterfront views are stunning, the atmosphere cozy yet vibrant, and the service? Impeccable. A true East Coast treasure that turns a great meal into a magical experience. Definitely recommend and absolutely worth trying!

This restaurant is worth the half hour drive from Charlottetown! The food was absolutely phenomenal. The oysters were the best I have ever had, so sweet and delicious. The lobster dip is also fantastic with big chunks of real lobster. The halibut was fresh and beautifully cooked. Our server Nadine was kind and attentive. A good tip is if you’re sitting outside on the patio they have blankets to help you keep warm! This restaurant should not be missed!
