I left my house when I got a notification that our pizzas were ready for pickup, so I figured it would be a quick grab and go.
When I arrived an employee was on the phone, and when the call was over she immediately went off on a customer to back away from the counter. Then she went on a tantrum about how all she’s responsible for is making the food, kept yelling as she walked to the back. Even mentioned they’ll probably get bad reviews because of her. Super awkward.
There was a passive aggressive note about them being short staffed, so I was fine waiting the 5 or so minutes for anyone to help the customers waiting around the counter. What bothered me was when a lady, who just walked in, was serviced before me (and of course there was an issue with her order that needed to be sorted out).
I was starving when I got home but the pizza did not taste like I remember Papa John’s to be, it tasted cheap. Also the dough was very unevenly distributed; very thin in the middle and very thick on the outside, so much that they had to fold it over underneath. I feel like a frozen pizza would have been better.
First, the order wait time was consistently terrible. The pickup window said 10–15 minutes; it took about 30 minutes every time I visited recently. The store clearly struggles with staffing and organization — orders were lost or mixed up multiple times, phones often went unanswered, and the staff seemed overwhelmed and untrained. That alone is frustrating, but what happened next made it intolerable.
When DoorDash drivers (and customers) politely asked about missing items or late orders, the manager on duty responded rudely and aggressively. I personally witnessed the manager raise their voice at a driver and accuse them of “not knowing how to pick up” — while the driver was calm and professional. On another visit, a worker barked at a customer for asking a simple question about their pizza and made the customer feel humiliated in front of others. I felt unsafe and embarrassed watching it happen.
There are two serious problems here: poor operations and bad leadership. Staff shortages are only one part of the issue — there’s also a clear lack of basic customer service training and a manager who uses hostility rather than problem-solving when things go wrong. If you rely on timely pickups or delivery via DoorDash, plan extra time or consider choosing a different location. I will not recommend this store to anyone. If you run a business, treat your customers and delivery partners with basic respect — that’s not asking much.
Doesn’t seem like anyone cared and just threw this pizza together. Wings were over sauced. There were girls yelling and arguing outside the store. I’ve never ordered Papa John’s before and this was not a good first impression.
See photo, pizza crust was wet, floppy, 2 millimeters thick. Worst I’ve ever seen. Customer support online does not care. Manager was understanding and refunded the order, but you can’t customize which store processes your order, so I’m not ordering again.
