When a reference comes in from a local who is from Columbia you don’t wait, you make it your next destination! Thank you Karol, La Cabana just became one of, if not the top choice for elegance with a beautiful family vibe for dinner.

Never been to Columbia but the family behind the scenes have brought it to us! The thought and passion put into the decor is unmatched. Sandra x2 you both were amazing. The service was top notch! Suggesting two of the must haves! The photos show you what’s worth trying if you have never had a Colombian meal. Everything is home made from the empanadas to the churros. To wash it all down they have made to order aqua Fresca, which was a decadent Guava flavor. Think it’s time to jump on a plane and make a trip to Columbia, but if you need an amazing night that is close to home, it’s worth the drive! Gracias!!! For everything!

An new looking Columbian Restaurant emerged from the constructiom eyesore that used to be a Churrasquería near the southeast corner of Armenia and Hillsborough. La Cabaña caught my eye last Friday so I came back on Wednesday.

The decor catches your eye right away, high cielings with a spacious layout evoking warmth, nature and the Columbian heritage. The servers all greeted as soon as eye contact was made. The service was fast, attentive and friendly. The atmosphere cozy and relaxing, the noise level low.

I ordered a small variety of foods in order to experience a spectrum of dishes. It included beef, chicken, fried fish, assorted seafood and chicharon. In general, the flavors went from very good to great. Very tasty, latino style flavors that seemed authentic. The proteins however had a wide spectrum. From extremely poor quality beef, to average quality chicken, fish, seafood and shrimp and finally to an excellent chicharon.

Beef ratings below USDA Choice go down in quality to Select, Standard and close to the bottom is Commercial. Their NY Strip was Commercial at best. It had a texture, toughness and fibrous quality that hinted at a chemical tenderizer. Pictured below is a huge chunk of grilled fat attached the strip that should never be there, so, the source, cut and quality is a mystery.

The chicken was a bit stingy but covered in a mushroom cream sauce, that tasted good. One of the better dishes. The fried fish fillet was so thin that the breading matched it’s thickness. Again tasty but lacking actual fish. The Rice with Seafood was one of the better dishes. A medley of seafood with a very nice flavor profile. The shrimp a bit overcooked, the rice quality sub par and the dish was not nearly as good as La Pequeña Columbia down the road.

A 2nd visit with friends proffered slightly better results. A tasty dish of fried spare ribs, ceviche and shrimp in a coconut cream sauce. In the end, it’s ok, but a return visit seems unlikely.

The star of the show was the Chicharon Ceviche. Unfortunately, the thin and wonderfully crispy chicharon was sitting in the wet ceviche liquid that made it soggy and chewy in that area. Must recommend the ceviche sauce be on the side cause the flavors pair really well. Who knew? That plus an awesome homemade pique makes for a great game watching appetizer. The thin sliced plantains that come with it beg for a garlicky cream sauce as a side. Just saying, if you want to make it better…

A menu this massive and other reviews I read are evidence that there are plenty of authentic dishes I missed that would likely be better and raise my rating. My choices were varied and cover a wide spectrum. There are some obvious glaring issues to be addressed or people will not return.

I ate here for the first time yesterday and was blown away. From the outside, I was expecting a more casual, family-style spot, but instead found a brand new, beautifully decorated restaurant that felt warm and inviting. The food was absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared.

Even though my server and I had a bit of a language barrier (she spoke little English and I don’t speak Spanish), she went out of her way to make sure everything came out just right, and the service was excellent. It really showed how much they care about their guests.

I will definitely be coming back, and I’ll be recommending this place to friends and family. A wonderful hidden gem!

This place I think got renewed, it was there before, not sure, it was my first time visiting but it looks so nice inside.
I’m in love with restaurants when they use typical decorations and art and this one looks amazing, it has a lot of Colombian art on the walls ♥️and loving the tree art again , food was delicious, I know it looks a bit watered but the flavors were amazingly, I got menudo soup (I think that was the name), made with chicken necks, gizzards, livers, whole eggs, chicken, potatoes, and vegetables I know it sounds gross, but so tasty ♥️it came accompanied with rice and salad, my friend got an old ( ) chicken soup I think again that was the name not sure, really delicious , it came with rice and salad as well.
The service was good and fast, place was really clean, family oriented, Spanish and English-speaking, we got soup because the day looked moody like a rainy day but they served many Colombian food not only soups, the price was very moderate.

This was our first time at this restaurant and first time getting Columbian food in Florida. The restaurant is pretty good size, clean, and nicely decorated with TVs to watch sports. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had some beef empanadas for appetizers, they were made with masa versus flour. For lunch my wife had a Columbian beer Aquila which was a nice lager with a Pueblo platter (grilled pork loin, pork rinds, egg, corn cake, salad, rice-n-red beans, and sweet plantains. I had a breaded pork loin cutlet with rice-n-red beans and green plantains (tostones). The portions were nice and big and all of our food was tasty except the corn cake which my wife didn’t care for. If you are looking for a good place to eat that’s not expensive and the people are really friendly or you want to try Columbian cuisine we recommend this place.

Talking to my gringos out there… DO NOT MISS the opportunity to drive over here and try authentic, fantastic Colombian food. The super nice (fancy, clean, open, and light) inside. Try the #8. For $21 you get everything. The portion is big, you’ll bring some home. My wife (Brazilian) said you just mix it all up and pour the beans on it. Didn’t want to look messy so I let her do it… you’ll thank me later. Also, get a juice – it’s natural juice and tastes better than ours (because it’s squeezed not canned).

The food is amazing but the service is phenomenal. Sandra was our waitress the first time we went, she deserves 5 stars and more. I wish all waiters and waitresses were the same.

Visiting from NH and I was craving some authentic Latin food. We found La Cabaña on TikTok/Google search and we were not disappointed. Our server Jonathan was excellent, very appropriately attentive and friendly. Our food came out very quickly and piping hot. Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. We will definitely keep La Cabaña on our list to return.

I loved everything I tried, service was amazing , the decorations are beautiful and the music in the background was perfect.
Smaller portions that I am used to at Colombian restaurants but I think it’s just compared to other places having bigger portions with the intention of having leftovers
I finished everything and didn’t feel sick after eating, that’s how the portions are.

The reason why I give a one star is because we order food from here thinking the food should be great because we’ve eaten from here but at the restaurant. It’s a different experience ordering out, I don’t know if they sent us left over chicken or what but the food is so stiff. It feels like rubber I don’t know if is real chicken. My whole family couldn’t finish the food, just a waste of money and that’s my real reason why I’m leaving this review because I hate paying for food and giving me garbage.
