The first thing that stands out is the truly exceptional staff. I was running late and called to let them know, and they were kind enough to stay open a few extra minutes just for me. That level of friendly, accommodating service is rare and sets them apart immediately.
Of course, the food was also excellent. I had the shawarma platter, and the lamb and chicken were incredibly tasty, served over a unique and flavorful rice. Here’s a tip: the meat is definitely best enjoyed fresh and hot, as it can get a bit firm as it cools down.
The restaurant itself is decently sized with a pleasant atmosphere. Between the outstanding service and the delicious food, I can see exactly why this place is so beloved. I will definitely be back.
The workers in there were very tentative to the customers. After I put in my order they suggested drinks that I may want to try one of which was their fresh mango smoothie. Let me tell you.. That mango smoothie was smooth. The freshness of the flavor and taste was spot on. Never had anything that refreshingly good before. Then the food came. My God! I got a mixed gyro platter and it was singing. I normally get it with rice, this time I got it with French fries.
Those fries blended so well with everything else. I was in nirvana!! This was the first time I have ever really enjoyed gyro meal like this. I looked at baby who joined me for this meal and saw the same reaction from her with what she ordered. I stated earlier in this book i jusy wrote here, I never had a favorite when it came to gyros. I do now….. If you live in this area you have got to try Gyro King and let them put you in the same state of mind. You will never want from a different gyro spot after tasting theirs. Don’t walk, run. Don’t drive race to Gyro King…
We also got chicken samosas and a hummus bowl with pita bread. The hummus had a layer of oil on top, but if you skim that off, it’s great. The chicken samosas had a thin, crispy exterior, perhaps made of phyllo, which I highly prefer to thicker samosa exteriors.
The main feedback I have is that the plates are just a tad small for the wraps. The layer of oil on ths hummus was not ideal, and my wrap also had some sauce on the outside of the inner layer (the wraps are wrapped twice). Ideally, all the sauce would be on the inside of the inside layer so someone eating on the go doesn’t end up with sauce on their hands, but it’s a very minor thing and doesn’t affect the food quality at all.
The courteousness of the staff really impressed me. The man at the counter was incredibly polite and kind, and checked in on us during our meal to ensure everything was as we wanted, which is very rare for small places like this which focus a lot on to-go food. Food was incredible, huge in volume, and we ended up packing most of the hummus and pita, as well as the samosas, to take home – and it was $35 total. I might end up coming back regularly for lunch. Highly recommend.
