I have to admit the pancake House was nothing like I expected. After years of frequenting diners to eat breakfast food and enjoying the atmosphere, I was a little thrown off by how the pancake House was configured.

The moment you’re inside you realize this place is not meant to remind you of a traditional diner, but instead a large farmhouse, or barn, where there’s a communal eating space. I don’t know if it’s a bad thing, but I do hear that sometimes individual guest can be seated among a large group to make things efficient. That didn’t happen, but you might find it mentioned in other reviews.

The overall atmosphere was very rustic, with most of the decorations being made out of wood. There a special area where booths were set up, which definitely stand out when mixed in with the restaurant’s other seating arrangements.

The service was good, but I can’t say that’s the case all the time, as I visited during a less busy time (which I understand is common in dining these days) so there weren’t very many other customers.

Both the waitress and another person (maybe a kitchen worker) checked on me regularly as they do at most breakfast places, offering me coffee refills, and checking to see if the food that I order was to my liking.

Other than that, there’s really not much to say. Because I was unfamiliar with the restaurant, I wanted to order the classic pancakes, but the staff was nice enough to notify me that almost every dish comes with a side of pancakes, so I should order whatever I want. That was a nice touch.

The pancakes were good, but it was nothing to write home to Mom about, offering a good blend of thickness/syrup absorbtion ratio. The syrup, along with all the other condiments, and be found on the table, so guests can season to their taste preference.

If you’re looking for breakfast in the Millbrae area, I would recommend you stop by the pancake House as you can expect a solid experience that meets expectations. On top of that, the price isn’t bad either.

This may be one of my new favorite brunch spots on the peninusla. The pancakes and waffles are top tier, the website says they’ve made them from scratch for ~60+ years and the results speak for themselves! Prices are great, the restaurant is roomy and cozy, and the food is exemplary. 10/10 experience.

Classic Millbrae establishment. The wait was about 10 minutes on a rainy Monday President’s Day at 9:15pm. We had 2x California omelettes $18 each, supreme omelette $18 and coffee $4. The food came out reasonably quick. It tasted fine. It is cool how pancakes are included or toast if you order the omelettes. Service was lacking. Our waiter disappeared for half an hour. Luckily another waiter was able to helped us with coffee and water refills. But since our waiter wasn’t around, we had to wait at least 15 minutes for the check so that we could pay. It is ridiculous to disappear for half an hour.

Before COVID I took the train from Millbrae for work and the Pancake House was a regular stop, but I haven’t been back since I started working from home. I was in the area today and decided to stop in. I was delighted to find it is as excellent as ever.

I wanted a little bit of everything on the menu so I went for the Special with chicken fried steak, eggs, hash browns, and buttermilk pancakes on the side. It was awesome. I may not need to eat for a day or two.

This our favorite place for breakfast whenever we are in the area. No other place compares. We luckily got there before they closed and surprised they were still packed. We got seated right away and placed our order. Our waitress was great! Didn’t catch her name, but she made us feel very welcomed. Food arrived fast and was delicious as always! Bravo to the entire staff, you guys did amazing! #BestBreakfast

A classic Millbrae institution (nearly 3,000 reviews as of Feb 2026) with no wait when we arrived and fast, efficient service.

I had the blueberry pancakes, coffee, and an omelet—everything was delicious. Next time, I’m trying the Hawaiian pancakes .

We got the chicken fried steak and eggs and the fried chicken and waffles. The steak and eggs were pretty good, the hashbrowns were nice and pretty crispy but still soft. The fried chicken from the chicken was nicely crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. There wasnt a lot of flavor but the textures were great to pear with the waffle. I was impressed they served a whole half chicken with the waffle. We sat outside so I worried the food would get cold but the waffle and chicken held up pretty nicely. The waffle also had a nice crispiness to it. The steak and eggs came with buttermilk pancakes, and those were so beautifully fluffy. They just absorbed the syrup! Those are definitely a must-try! Overall good sizes and food, I’d love to come back to try their pancake stack dishes.

We were looking for a restaurant near where we were going to church. This is what we found. We ordered vegan omellete and hawaiin pancakes. Their food was delicious. Their staff looked tired, not even one of them smiled.

Popped in for a weekday lunch and it was nearly full – obviously they have a loyal clientele! Eggs were well cooked. Hash browns were decent but could’ve used more browning. Service was efficient. Price was reasonable. I found the interior too dark, but I guess that’s part of the “mood” there.
