Both were phenomenal and absolutely worth the wait! (The real stuff takes time!!) The location is lowkey and clean, really comfy and easy to relax in after a long day. I forgot our server’s name but she had long black hair and AMAZING makeup!! She is a superstar
Absolutely amazing pizza! AuthenticPizza truly lives up to its name — everything tastes fresh and homemade. The crust is perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside, and you can tell they use high-quality ingredients. The sauce has that real Italian flavor, not too sweet, just right. The staff is always friendly and the service is fast, even during busy hours. Easily my favorite pizza spot in town! Highly recommend to anyone who loves real, authentic pizza.
I was reluctant with never hearing of this place but decided to give it a try.
The building looked historic with skyscrapers built all around it.
We walked down the steps and into the pub for bar seating.
Bartender was informative and gave us a brief history of the building and business.
We ordered a small pepperoni and sausage deep dish.
The pizza was solid starting with a flavorful crust. The sauce was great with a lot of tomato flavor and a bit of heat.
The sausage was the star and the pepperoni was also good.
This was honestly the best deep dish we had in Chicago and it wasn’t even on our radar.
It hit all 3 requirements of crust, sauce and cheese.
Decent tap list with some local options on Draft.
Inside, it wasn’t just a pizzeria. It was an initiation. You don’t order here, you build. The dough sat in a dark pan like a mystery waiting to unfold, surrounded by accomplices: pepperoni, onions, green peppers. A class in deep dish architecture. I rolled up my metaphorical sleeves (the real ones are plastic) and assembled justice one layer at a time. When the pizza finally emerged from the oven, it had more structure than half the city’s infrastructure.
The sauce was a theatre, a red curtain hiding the molten heart of mozzarella beneath. Each bite was a crime of passion. I’d cracked the case of why locals call this a classic. It’s not pizza; it’s edible fortification.
Detective Tips:
• Arrive early when the pans are still cold and the staff still patient.
• The deep dish class is worth it if you like to play both chef and hero.
• Take photos before the first slice. After that, chaos reigns.
BEWARE OF…
• Burnt paper. They cook the index card in the oven on top of your pizza – puzzling.
• Underestimating the density; this pizza could double as body armor.
• Timing your reservation. They rushed us out because they had another group coming in behind us.
• Forgetting your leftovers; they’ll haunt you like an unsolved case.
