Great food and hospitality exists. Plates were all cleaned. The baked chicken was delicious along with all the fixins. Catfish was tasty. Chopped steak with rice yummy and the roast beef was good. Mexican cornbread the best. The sweet tea I need to know how it’s made. The best was everyone who said hello, and made sure we enjoyed our food. We will return to this location.

A Mixed Experience at S & S Cafeteria in Augusta

I recently visited S & S Cafeteria in Augusta, and the atmosphere transported me back to the 90s – in a good way. The cafeteria was very clean, well-staffed, and I was greeted by everyone, which was a nice touch.
However, my experience took a hit when a friend I met outside, who appeared to be down on his luck, was not allowed to eat with me. No explanation was given, and we ended up taking him elsewhere for a hot meal. I was disappointed in the treatment of my friend, and it overshadowed the rest of my visit.
The food was a mixed bag. I ordered fresh fruit and asked if sugar was added, but no one knew. The roast beef was bland, and the potatoes were overcooked. However, the steamed cabbage and deviled eggs were excellent – they tasted just like my mom’s cooking.
Overall, my experience was average. While the atmosphere and some of the food were great, the treatment of my friend and some of the food quality issues brought my rating down to 3 out of 5 stars.

This was my first time here and I had to see and taste what the hype was all about. Nothing appealing to the eye other than a few of my favorite southern comforts. Black eyed peas were good, collards which are my favorite food was amazing. Everything else looked extremely salty, greasy and smothered. Service was incredible until the light skinned dude on the food service line kept asking me out. Place wasn’t packed with lots of seating.

I recently came home after a 15 year hiatus and made sure this was one of the places I stopped at. I am so happy I did! The food was hot and fresh, dining area was clean, and the staff were fantastic. It brought back tons of memories from my younger days. I am sadly back in New Mexico missing S&S.

Ordered me and my wife delivery yesterday and was quite disappointed. First of all i spent almost $40 to have our good delivered. It came at the time expected. When we opened the food, my wife’s Roast beef was half-cooked and tough and I ordered the chopped grilled sirloin steak but instead i was looking at what seemed to be a Salisbury steak without the gravy. Looked like something they’d serve in a jail. My white rice wasn’t cooked well and everything was cold. Loved the sweet potato pie though. We could’ve called and complained or even asked for our money back but we’re just simply never spending money at this place again.

I used to frequent S&S Cafeteria when it was in North Augusta and for the most part had a pretty pleasant experience from what I can remember even though I was a kid. Of course the NA location is no more so decided to come to the Augusta location. I have to say I’m unbelievably disappointed. The service was decent but the atmosphere was extremely outdated and run down. The place could use a good makeover. The food was lackluster barely warm and some of the food was either overcooked, undercooked or heavily salted. It’s disappointing to think that a once hidden gem filled with nostalgia is just like anything else from my childhood no longer available. Farewell S&S I’ll always remember the good times.

Amazing experience! The food was delicious and the staff were excellent. I got my food to-go, there was a little wait but well worth it! I had liver and onions and my husband had meatloaf. The sweet potato pie was so delicious! I miss good cooking like this, I traveled just to taste this food and I wasn’t disappointed. I’ll be back!

Great selection of salads, veggies, meats and wonderful desserts. The servers and staff were super friendly and helpful. All things considered it is a very good value.

Drove west on I 20 from Columbia to Augusta for the sole purpose of eating at S&S. They never disappoint on southern home style food and the service is terrific. Especially appreciated the help of Mr Beasley in the dining room. Great job! Made the drive worth it and wish we had one in Columbia.

Anytime I’ve came to s&s the food was always good but I haven’t been in a while because I moved across town so yesterday I decided to go because I was near the area worst decision ever just because I spent over $60.00 on 4 plates with 2 extra sides and the food was horrible. Macaroni had imitation cheese (even I tried to reheat it in the microwave it still didn’t melt), the dressing had a funny taste to it and the sweet potato soufflé was not the normal soufflé. Now I’m not sure if it’s food budget cuts or different cooks but today was a bad and I mean bad day.
