The chicken fried chicken was okay.
Tha Mac n cheese was plain.
The mashed potatoes were also plain.
The pinto beans were okay.
The cherry pie was great!
The corn bread was okay.
The plates they brought for the corn bread, one of them were dirty.
Not sure if it was considered busy or not but I kept hearing the waitress apologise for being busy. It did feel like she wasn’t around often.
One thing I found odd was no coke/Dr pepper float even though they have the components for it(this doesn’t have an effect on my ratings at all).
I’ll try them again to see how that instance goes, different plate and sides.
At the particular location the service and the atmosphere were pleasant. Food was fast, fresh and affordable. The chicken and dressing were the suprise dish for me, as it was very filling and flavorful. But I was disappointed with the carrots because they were bland.
But overall Norma’s is a hit and would definitely visit here again.
The trouble began with the confusing service. We saw a ‘Please seat yourself’ sign and did, only to be questioned by a staff member with a tone for following the instructions.
I ordered my usual, the Chicken Fried Bacon, but this time it was inedible. The chicken was rubbery and so dry I could barely swallow it. Worse, I pulled out several pieces of bacon that were burnt black and had an ‘off’ smell, which my wife confirmed. My wife’s chilaquiles were also less than satisfactory.
Our waitress never once checked on us, even when I declined a to-go box with over 80% of my meal left on the plate. It wasn’t until a second waitress noticed my expression that anyone asked if things were okay. After my wife explained the situation, our original server still brought the full-priced bill, and we had to explain the issues all over again.
We’ve had many good meals here in the past, but this experience was so poor that we’ll be going elsewhere from now on. Honestly, McDonald’s would have been an upgrade.
You can also tell this place is a local fan favorite by looking at the locals who were there! I would recommend this place!
