Service off the bat is bad. I waited 10 minutes just for someone to take an order.
To start, I ordered a sushi roll. I was supposed to have crab. To my disappointment, there was only crab in one piece of this entire sushi roll. For $20, you could’ve recently got two rolls had a better spot that actually gave you what you ordered. Or one fancier role with more fish/seafood at any other spot.
I then followed this up with the hibachi chicken and scallops. Add a $35 price tag, I expected a decent amount of protein. Once I finally opened the box, I was so disappointed to see 4 ounces of chicken and three pieces of scallops. This was actually such a bad reveal.
If you order sparkling water, it cost $7 for a small bottle. Skip this, go right down the street to the grocery store, and buy seven of the exact bottles for the same price.
Next to last, the plastic silverware they give with two go orders is so flimsy. You would expect for this exorbitant price, they would at least give a start a plastic utensil like many other restaurants will do. The fact that they give a cheap, flimsy utensil speaks volumes to how this business practices profit over service.
Lastly, one of the worst parts is that they force an 18% tip on all to go orders, however, the only place they even mention it is one time on the menu in a big paragraph. While the issue itself is not this tip, it’s the fact that the restaurant staff don’t remind you that the tip has already been included, and they hand you a receipt that has a spot for a tip. The restaurant has baked in the 18% charge as an itemized line item on the receipt, rather than a line item after the subtotal. This means that they are calculating tax on top of that tip, so you are paying even more than you expect. This restaurant should remove the tip as a line item on the receipt, only added after the subtotal, and stop charging customers extra because they have to tax the tip. Additionally, the restaurant staff should clearly let customers know that tip has already been added.
This bill in total came out to $83 if you don’t realize, they already included the tip without telling you, and we’re just hoping you would be gullible enough to give more, and for less than half the price you could’ve had the same quality, better service, and less fraudulent business practices at any other establishment.
I ordered the ribeye and shrimp combo, and I was very happy with the portion size of the meats. The ribeye was flavorful and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. It’s a satisfying meal, but I have one small critique: I really wish there had been a bit more rice. The meats were a good portion, but for me, a little extra rice would have made the meal perfect.
Despite that, it was a great meal and I’ll definitely be returning. If you’re a big rice eater, maybe just ask for a little extra on the side!
We arrived around 5:00 PM and were seated first. Our waitress was very kind and did an excellent job — this review is not a reflection of her service in any way.
Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was not what we’re used to. The seating was extremely uncomfortable. There was no reason to have people seated so close that I could barely move my arm to eat. It felt cramped and rushed, which took away from the experience entirely.
The food was also a letdown. What has always brought us back is the quality, but today the rice was hard and sticky, the steak was tough, and the portions were noticeably smaller — closer to kids’ plates than what we’ve come to expect.
I normally don’t complain, especially since I work in retail and deal with the public daily. I understand things happen. But for the price, which is fair when everything is clicking, today just didn’t feel worth it. I genuinely felt disappointed leaving.
I’m sharing this because I’ve always enjoyed coming here and hope this was just an off day — but it was far from the experience we’ve had for years.
