Food was good, nothing special. It feels like a Chinese version of Hawaiian, that’s not a bad thing but doesn’t feel authentic.

Came for a relaxing Monday lunch. A few people were there. Simple clean interior. Food came out quickly. mini portions are just right for lunch. The taste was good, would come back again!

Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 – ordered a BBQ Mix Combination Plate based on recommendations and a Chicken Katsu. The Chicken Katsu was amazing! Tender chicken that is moist fried to a perfect crisp. Unfortunately, the BBQ plate was nothing to write home about. Salty overall and heavy taste of just soy sauce and sugar. The beef felt like scrap pieces, the chicken was okay, and the short ribs were decent in texture.

Service: 5/5 – quick and straight forward service. Don’t expect Amercian hospitality but she got the job done. Much more friendly to guests who speak Chinese.

Ambiance: 3/5 – there was a soft Hawaiian music playing in the background almost completely drowned out by the humming from the refrigerator or AC. The humming did stop but started again. The tables and chairs were clean with some Chinese characters decorating the couch.

Value for price: 3/5 – the Chicken Katsu was great and definitely worth the price based on taste, quality, and serving size. The BBQ plate was not worth at all even though it’s a recommended item!

I was there because curious whether it justified to rank as #3 best 2023 new restaurant in Columbus in a magazine. Well, to start with, differ from its name, i didn’t feel much Hawaii atmosphere there, the food was okay but overall, I am not convinced with the ranking. The service was very good though.

I’m from Hawai’i, so when I saw it I hope it taste like back home. This is far the closest I got to have some food from back home. The musabi was good, I like mine without sauce. The garlic butter fried fish was really good. I can tell it was freshly fried to order. Really good.

The place was silent except for the person next to us listening to something on their phone. The service was polite and prompt. But the food was just eh. The kalua pork was so salty I couldn’t eat a third of it. My boyfriend’s mixed plate was okay but bland. The BBQ sauce in the cup is just Japanese bbq from the store. We got our appetizer or salt and pepper wings last, and they were fine, but all the seasoning had fallen off. Not horrible, but won’t be returning.

Service was excellent and they were very friendly. Food came out incredibly fast. We ordered the mixed meat plate with Chicken Katsu and Teriyaki Beef picked, sided with rice and macaroni salad. Chicken Katsu was super crispy and juicy. Everything was great. Portions large. Looking forward to trying other items here!

Great new Hawaiian place! When you get there, you order at the counter and can take a seat at any open table. Food comes in togo containers which was nice because the portion sizes are good. The chicken curry was really good but I was slightly disappointed that the curry came in such a small side cup. The BBQ combo is highly recommended! Also their macaroni salad that comes as a side for most dishes was my favorite part!

Here’s a NED-style review for Ohana Island Grill:

✅ What Works Well
– Tasty Hawaiian-inspired comfort food—favorites include loco moco, kalua pork, and teriyaki chicken.
– Laid-back, island-style vibe with friendly, welcoming service.
– Generous portions at fair prices.
– Quick service—great for dine-in or takeout.
– Unique flavors that stand out from typical fast-casual spots.

What to Watch Out For
– Limited seating, especially during lunch rush.
– Simple decor—more about food than ambiance.
