I was passing through Sioux Falls on a road trip, and stopped to just get some quick food. Me and my girlfriend got our food super quick, and the lady working the front of house was super sweet and attentive.
I’m only docking a star because I think the whole building could use a *deep* cleaning. The bathrooms were pretty filthy, nothing too bad though.
Overall definitely worth eating here!

A lot of menu items to choose from. First time dining in. I believe there are no free refills, is the only down side. They have a la carte salsa/sauce bar. I’m that carte they’re the mix of carrots, and chillies. So good. Rice so good, and homemade refried beans. Tacos came “con todo”(with everything) onion, cilantro, limes.
Taco were good. Cabeza (head) meat was tender.

TL;DR: Big burrito, clean spot, bland taste.
Gilberto’s has great reviews, so I gave it a try. I ordered the chicken fajita burrito with extra guac. The burrito was huge—much bigger than what I usually get in Dallas—and the fajitas were cooked well. Flavor was a bit on the bland side and I wish there was more guacamole, but overall it was decent. The place was very clean and well kept.

I really wanted fried chicken. Unfortunately, the chicken joint was closed. We have driven by this restaurant a hundred times when in Sioux Falls and never stopped. I regret not stopping. We were not expecting the meal we got. The food is PHENOMENAL! Served on paper plates and plastiware but you overlook that quite quickly on first bite. The portions are huge. Best mexican I have had hands down! Definitely worth the stop. I was very pleasantly surprised.

Texan here in Sioux Falls for the first time. Stopped by here on a Sunday morning. This place is legit. Salsa bar on point. Had the chorizo burrito with cheese and eggs – highly recommend!

Fantastic authentic Mexican food.
If you want shrimp tacos that will make you keep eating WAY past full, this is the place to go. It doesn’t matter where I’m at in town, I know there’s a Gili’s nearby with incredible shrimp tacos.
Great for groups of all sizes. They typically have seating for groups of 4, 6 and even more.

Well today we stopped by and ordered 3 kids burritos I tell you the cheese wasn’t even melted Nombre. Then they know they are kids burritos and they put the whole can of beans in the burrito. To top it off the tortillas weren’t even toasted they were warm not even fully cooked. And for what they charge. I paid almost $50 and I was missing an order of 5 tacos. Good service great atmosphere but food ehh not so good.

Met up with a friend for lunch! We love Gilberto’s and we hadn’t been to this location yet so this was fun to check out. Very clean and friendly staff though it was a busy lunch hour. I got the shrimp fajitas and they were excellent. I will always recommend the chips and salsa as the salsa is great and the chips are just the right amount of salty.

Pluses: Friendly staff. Open 24 hours. Very tasty food. Breakfast burritos are particularly great. Same with the ceviche tostada.
Minuses: The drive through is incredibly slow. Be prepared to wait 15 minutes. Prices are not cheap (e.g., $4 for a taco pre-tax and $14 for a burrito after tax).
