I used to come here often. In fact, Pho Bang New York (not in New York) was the one that first taught me to appreciate this Americanized northern Vietnam dish more than three decades ago even though there were many pho places in town. The first day when I revisited Montreal recently, I brought my grown daughter to Pho Bang New York. We returned to this place several times during our short stay.

Their noodles are less bouncy than I prefer. But their meat cuts are superb, and their soup has a different emphasis from what I often get now. After all these years, they still keep their prices low, although they seem to have adjusted portions somewhat understandably due to inflation. Surprisingly, they now have a weekend special with ox tail soup. That soup has hot spices, and they offer a special hot sauce. You don’t want to miss it if you visit on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday!

I still remember the weekend evenings when diners quietly – nay, loudly wait to enter near the small doorway at the plain-looking storefront. Today, people do the same. Their interior used be plain, too. But now, they have quite a bit of decors that look loud but do not necessarily go together. General atmosphere here is cozy. Staff speak fluent French and English – many speak Vietnamese, too.

Space is tight in this restaurant. So, expect some inconvenience if you visit during winter. (They now have a coat rack in the back although not many people notice that.) And prepare to pay cash. (How do you suppose they can keep price so low?)

Was here 7 to 8 years ago and remembered they had green chopsticks and the food was excellent. Orders a pho with rare beef and vegetables and the vegetables deep fried spring rolls. Everything was fresh and beautifully cooked. The broth was aromatic not overly salty Which is quite rare ( excuse the pun) Washrooms are clean::: SUPER CLEAN. I have to say I have not been to an Asian restaurant with washrooms this clean!! Service is friendly and fast.
Highly recommended.

I’ve been a loyal customer of this Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown Montreal for over 13 years — and it never disappoints!
Their soups, fresh rolls, and noodles are always full of flavor and freshness — the true taste of Vietnam
I’ve tried almost everything on the menu, and honestly, everything is delicious!
I always bring my friends here, and everyone ends up loving it.

This place is always busy — there’s usually a line-up, and that says it all! People keep coming back because of the amazing food, friendly service, and consistent quality
It’s truly the best Vietnamese restaurant in Montreal, and it absolutely deserves its top ratings ❤️

Went here after a night out. Had to wait a little because it gets soo packed but the service was great and the food came on time. Would’ve liked the pho spicier as said in the menu but it was alright.

Best pho in the city! Good and fast service. Servers are kind, quick, and helpful. Their pho with grilled chicken is too good. Chicken is grilled to perfect, so flavorful and soft. Veggie spring rolls are also really good. I loved their grilled beef and chicken with rice and salad. The quality is always the same and they never miss! Highly recommend if you’re looking best pho in the city.

Place is very simple, but sooo good! Pho bo is iconic: huge portion, excellent taste. They also serve free tea, and it is so cute ☺️ But you can pay only with cash here

Definitely over hyped. The staff are nice though. Broth is very light and not much flavor. The place is packed and you’re sitting really close to people you don’t know.

Tried their No.1 signature raw beef & tripe pho with beef balls – absolutely spot on. The dry pho with marinated beef is also a must-try, packed with flavor. This place is always busy (which is a good sign!) and it’s cash only, so come prepared.

The taste is authentic and satisfying, but the service could be friendlier. Still, for the quality of the food, it’s worth a visit if you’re in Montreal’s Chinatown.
