The Social is a modern kitchen & bar located in downtown New London dedicated to the art of craft. The Social Bar + Kitchen opened in July 2016, immediately changing New London’s restaurant and bar scene by offering the largest selection of craft beers on draft in Southeastern Connecticut (50 to be exact!), a modern gastropub-style menu incorporating handcrafted burgers, entrees, apps and more with many options for vegetarians and vegans, and a fresh approach to craft cocktails – all in one of New London’s most beautiful rooms.

First time here. We were greeted warmly. There was live music! A jazz band, very cool. Fairly full when we arrived and when we left there were more folks. Wait staff did a good job juggling many tables. We had chips and salsa + burgers. I had the honey blue burger, it was very good, I recommend. I had an okd fashioned, it was pretty good. They have fried chicken and mac and cheese, I am getting that next time, sounds good. We will be back.

Absolutely legendary experience at this spot – which is phenomenal.
The owner, Brian, took 30 minutes out of his day to talk to my girlfriend and I about the history of the area and the bar.
Drinks were phenomenal so was the food, truly an A+ environment.
Also, I had the best slice of cake in my entire damn life… I will be returning.

Great spot. Many beers on tap. Cocktails also available. The food was delicious. I ordered the parmesan garlic french fries and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. We went during live music night. The waitress was very attentive. Bar area and tables available.

Great food. Awesome beer selection on tap. Had a great conversation with one of the owner who pointed out the much of the furniture and decor are hand made themselves.
I had a couple of flights of beer and a pint. Had a really good sandwich. And the bartenders were friendly and down to earth.
Definitely would return should I find myself in New London again.

Sadly we had an awful experience at The Social tonight. It’s New London restaurant week and they are running a special for one of each off a select menu: appetizer, entree (with fries according to their own Facebook promo), and a slice of cake for $20.24.
Our appetizers took about 45 min to come out and after that we waited another hour for our entrees (usually we wouldn’t wait that long, but we were enjoying the trivia that was also happening). We actually asked them to cancel our food and bring the check, no sooner did our entrees finally arrive, which is how we took the photos because we were in awe of the quality.
We ordered the BBQ Cheddar Bacon Loaded tots appetizer. It was a good serving size, but it was only tater tots with melted cheese and green onion – no other toppings. I ordered the Social Patty Melt and my friend ordered the Fried Chicken Sliders. The patty melt looked average, but the chicken sliders were truly embarrassing. Nearly 2 hours and they served us 2 chicken nuggets on a bun with a pickle? Not to mention by the time we were given the option of dessert, we had been there so long they ran out of 2 of the 3 types of cake they were offering.
The staff clearly seemed overwhelmed, so I’m wondering if they were understaffed? Our server didn’t charge us for the food which we were grateful for, but it was still a super disappointing experience.

Not as good as we had expected. Not busy on a Saturday which was surprising initially but after our experience I’m not surprised. The server was friendly initially but then we couldn’t find him to ask for anything even though the veggie burger was missing the sauce and the parmesan truffle fries seemed to have zero truffle and were tasty but soggy. It smelled like old cigarette smoke too, and the impression we got from their website was vastly different than upon arrival. We won’t return. There were also no paper towels in the bathroom.

Just got back from the 1st Sunday of the month night with Mystic Dead. Met the owner who seemed like a super humble and unassuming guy. The staff and the food and the band (of course) were all amazing! Looking forward to chilling down by the river after the shows when the weather warms up a bit. Drove down 2 hours for this show at this venue. Totally worth it on all accounts!!

Not a soul insight when we walked in for lunch. Spent $51, including (Generic) Long Island Iced Tea(Tasted like sour mix). Fish and Chips fish was plain, no flavor. Wife had chicken wrap….hardly any chicken. Coleslaw was good. Was not a good experience on a Monday for lunch.

Great place for burgers and fries or even a salad. Our waitress was pleasant. Unfortunately didn’t get to try the impressive beer list, but next time we’re visiting USCGA I will.
