I saw nothing but good things about this place on Google Maps. So of course I had to come try it out. I took my mom and we are highly impressed. This is some of the best Indian food I have ever had. Not to mention the service is fantastic as well. The gentleman helping us was super friendly.
It is in the old truck stop restaurant, so it still looks a bit like a truck stop. But they’ve done an incredible job with the food. It may look a little rough on the edges but definitely give it a chance. You won’t be disappointed.

Indian American Cafe is a Harrisonburg gem. Such a special place with delicious food. The chicken is so tender and juicy and the dal saag is perfect. The owners and staff are warm, welcoming and kind. The atmosphere is so cozy and it feels like home. I can’t wait to come back!

This was my first time back in years and even though the original owners retired, I enjoyed the food and the experience under new ownership. My favorites were always the vegetable samosa and chicken saag and I was pleased that they tasted just as good as I remember. The tomato chutney was kickin! I also had the veggie momos which were good but next time I’d get the meat momos instead. The gulab jamun for dessert was excellent. Service was attentive and prices were reasonable. It’s a cozy restaurant with lovely decor. Recommended.

The best restaurant in the City of Harrisonburg! Everything is so thoughtfully prepared and made with a well-balance of spice and fresh ingredients. The salads are wonderfully fresh. The appetizers come out quick, nicely portioned and very tasty, especially the chicken chilly. All of the entrees we have tried are fantastic. My favorite is actually the vegetable chow mein! It’s better than any Chinese version. And the desserts are a perfect way to end the experience, not too rich or heavy at all. Price is right and the portions are generous. 5-courses per person comes out around $30. Just a delightful dinner every time.

The food is always wonderful and the service is consistently great. This is always my go-to spot for Indian food. The lamb curry is the best with a little extra spice, and the veggie samosas with tomato chutney are a must!

We just happened to find this place passing through town. It was so good, im so sad we probably will never have it again as we are from South Texas. By far a top 3 best Indian restaurants we’ve ever had. Get the chicken tikka, you won’t regret it! 🙂

We went for dinner and the food was pathetic. Tasteless food with colors added to it in excess quantity. Tandoori roti was not at all a Roti that was even close to Tandoor. Daal was plain without taste. The food was very bad for health, we ate some and didn’t even to go the rest. The redness you see in the Paneer Tikka and Chicken tikka is all color. Even after washing our hands we could see colors on our finger.
Please do not put your or your family’s health at stake.

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant today! The young lady who served my food was so friendly, polite, and professional. She had such a warm smile and made me feel very welcome, even though I didn’t catch her name. The food was great, and her excellent service made the visit even better. Thank you to the team for the great hospitality — I’ll definitely be coming back!
