I had a craving for a burger and I have enjoyed Steak ‘n Shake in the past and since I had been driving Historic Route 66, it seemed like a good fit. Not the experience I was hoping for. The dining area was simply too cold. Despite the high outside temps, patrons should not be required to grab a jacket from the car, in order to be able to eat and enjoy a burger. While it was approaching closing and it was a Tuesday night and not eh busiest, it still is just ‘uninviting’ to have a large amount of seating blocked off to make closing easier. Okay, but not a “welcome, sit anywhere you like” atmosphere.
My burger was the best item we had. The thin fries, which I enjoy were cold, and just not appetizing, despite the catsup and pepper I added. My wife’s chicken strips were warm, but not sizzling and tasty. The server was polite and the atmosphere with decor and classic decorations was nice.

Be my last stop at an S’n S as it was pricey for the quality of food, when burgers are available in numerous locations.

Steak N Shake in Springfield, Mo. is our family’s “go to place” when we travel I-44 on our way home from St. Louis several times a year. We love that this Steak N Shake continues to offer excellent table service instead of a kiosk ordering process like many of this franchise restaurants have gone to. Ande has been a hostess/server for quite some time and she keeps this restaurant running very smoothly with quality customer service. Food is outstanding and the cost value is remarkable. The original double steak burger with cheese and onion rings are a tasty stand by for my wife and I each time we visit this fine establishment. We truly look forward to our lunch break at this Steak N Shake on our travels through southern Missouri.

Horrible customer service. Ordered a salad with extra tomatoes and got basically none so kindly asked the “waitress” for extra tomatoes and a fork and then overheard her complaining to her manager because we were asking for things, to which her “manager” responded “tell your table to order better.” Extremely unprofessional and rude. OH and my husband found a hair in his burger, he tossed the hair before we could get a photo.

Much better than most of the Steak N Shake’s left in Missouri. Service was very friendly. Food was good. Always have to get the Frisco sauce added to the burger. I’d come back again.

Was seated right away but then sat for 15 minutes and left while other patrons who arrived after me were seated and waited on and still no server. Then a young lady approached every table but mine and ask about their experience. I did notice that there were about 6 tables and 3 waitresses. Either me sitting alone posed a greater task of service or maybe it was because I was the only person who wasn’t white.

First time at a Steak ‘ n Shake. Nothing really stood out about the food or atmosphere. The service was not great. They were more interested in getting us into a particular booth which we did not want. Staff was more interested in chatting with one another than service. Ended up asking for it to go. We were the only customers inside. Food was fine. Typical fast food flavors.

Wow!!! PINCH ME! We actually found a location that has the original full service! No touchscreen ordering kiosks. This is how Steak ‘n Shake should be. It’s a shame I’ve had to travel all the way from TEXAS just to experience it again. Truly wonderful. Placed was packed, and the staff was on point hustling around getting food out and promptly cleaning up afterward. The bathrooms were spotless despite the heavy crowds. The crew was happy, and it showed through their work and the smiles on their faces. The food was excellent as always. Nostalgic food for the food! The experience was everyone it once was pre-covid 20 years ago. Thank you do much! It was worth the drive. We will be back!

3/28/25 While sitting here waiting for our food to be prepared, a young lady (she was pregnant) walked over to the cook and told him to reuse a burger that a customer had sent back (The cook open the box there was a receipt on top of the burger inside the box. EXCUSE ME (reuse) unacceptable it should be thrown away you don’t know if that customer touched it. That same manager brought us our food, thank goodness. I checked it one to make sure they didn’t give us that darn burger that was sent back. Our burgers were COLD, and the fries were warm. No apologies they just took it back. we will make it over. Why was it cold ( like sitting in a refrigerator cold, not even room temperature…… TERRIBLE. The owner needs to pay this store a visit before they get shut down for food poison or contamination..

Food was absolutely disgusting the fries were cold i didn’t get what i ordered we didn’t get one of the milkshakes we ordered the milkshakes were horrible to we ordered through uber eats are driver was really polite to us and apologized for the wait we ordered at 6:30 and are driver said they were pushing people out at 6:30 when they dont even close until 10:00 so why the hell are they telling people to leave at 6:30 in the long run 10/10 would not recommend.
