I’ve ordered several times. The food was delicious. This time i ordered a dinner. When i started to eat. I got furiously upset! The TORTILLAS wereMICROWAVED!!!
My coworkers saw and started to laugh. Others asked what was wrong. I told them. Many of them shook their heads in disapproval. Others said “Thanks for the warning.” Mexicans DON’T heat tortillas in a MICROWAVE! The only ones that do that are restaurants that have a total lack of respect for their customers and the culture ofv the food. No proud MEXICAN would EVER Heat Tortillas in a Microwave. If you try tob reheat them the traditional after being MICROWAVED. They crumble apart. (According to them. It’s the owner’s decision.) Ask any Mexican what they think about “MICROWAVED TORTILLAS.” They’ll ALL tell you, “You don’t do that. That’s garbage.” I realize that The Colima isn’t meant for the people in the community or those b that desire a Delicious Home Mafe Style Authentic Mexican Meal. Because 99.999999999% (the .00000000001% being the Colima) of Mexican Restaurants. DO NOT MICROWAVE TORTILLAS! It’s disgusting and destroys the true essence and flavors of the food and tortilla itself. It’s like opening up a can of dog food and not putting it in a bowl. The food was VERY delicious. It would’ve been perfect with properly cooked TORTILLAS. Just ask any Mexican. What they think about a RESTAURANT that MICROWAVES TORTILLAS. They’ll laugh,smirk or get flustered with anger, and say “it’s not authentic” “they don’t respect their customers” or ” that’s not a place to go to.” I will be returning.
Because the food is delicious. I however will emphasize to have my TORTILLAS cooked the authentic way. So if you go or order take out. EMPHASIZE to have your Tortillas cooked the Authentic Mexican way. Or you may as well just go to Taco Bell.
THE POINT BEING. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO ASK TO HAVE A TRADITIONAL MEXICAN MEAL MADE 100% TRADITIONALLY.
Even Taquerias in CHINA heat up tortillas the good olds fashioned way. WHICH IS THE RIGH AND ONLY WAY.

I very rarely write reviews and hate to do this to a seemingly small businesses but I feel compelled to write this one as I believe I just had a racist encounter. On my way to another restaurant, I passed this one. I immediately looked them up to see the ratings (something I do, especially in a new area) as I’m very particular on where I eat. I call them to see what time they close (I say this in Spanish) and the lady on the phone responds fifteen minutes in Spanish and in English says 20 minutes. When I get to my original destination it was closed so I decide to go back (no more than maybe 5 minutes have passed since I call). I walk in, door is unlocked. Lady at the countering is signaling closed and says it out loud. I’m like how because I just called. The “waiter” who was sitting down says maybe I called the restaurant across the street. He then gets up and I show him my phone and he says “oh” and asks what do I want. I ask him for the options at the moment and tells me and he proceeds to the counter, where the lady denies this request and says the chef already cleaned or started cleaning. The “waiter” then says verbatim: “I’m just the waiter” lol I do applaud him for trying, seemed like a decent guy. This whole encounter would have been fine though if I hadn’t JUST call 5 minutes prior to ask what time they closed. There were also two ladies eating in the restaurant at the time. This def left a spur taste in my mouth and it is my first night in Chicago and I was truly hungry. Sucks I didn’t get to try the food but def won’t be back. I don’t know if it was my ski mask or what (for the “Windy” City ofc) which I had below my mouth but still prejudice nonetheless. Do better.

When I was 5 my mom took me to Colima Mexico, I remember how beautiful calm and how friendly the people from there were. Ever since then I have been wanting to go there for a while but haven’t been able to due to Covid-19 but as soon an I heard about this new restaurant I had to check it out. And wow, it brought me memories on how beautiful Colima Mexico is, it was like I was there in person. I was greeted beautifully with nice menu, I didn’t know what to get so the nice gentleman helped me with there wonderful plates, as soon as I took my first bite I got a flash back to when I was 5, it was those flashbacks like that scene in ratatouille. I will definitely be here again and will recommend anyone who has never been to Colima Mexico to come here and experience how it is
