Social Profile:

Like many immigrants who came to this country in hopes of opportunity and a better life, the Moncada’s migrated to this country from Mexico in the early 60’s with the same mentality and in pursuit of the of the American dream. Similar to many immigrants, our family had to work hard in order save money to be able to open a small business. The Moncada’s had experience owning a small grocery store in Mexico, and at the time businesses were not catering to the Mexican community. So naturally, in 1981, they opened a small grocery store with a small deli counter that sold Teresa’s (the matriarch of the family) recipes.

Longtime counter serve offering traditional Mexican eats such as burritos & tortas, plus breakfast.

Its worth going out of my way and going here. Their burritos are so good.
I usually get the Nopales and egg burrito for breakfast and it never gets old.

Order online to skip the line! Burritos were on the smaller side but it was just the perfect amount!
Wish there was a restroom that the customers could use.

There’s a tiny outdoor seating area, inside there isn’t any seating

Imagine if Chipotle was more authentic, used fresh tortillas, and tastier ingredients and you have El Charrito. It may be my favorite Mexican restaurant. Delicious burritos. Pollo chipotle and Al pastor are my favorites! The tortillas are fresh and amazing. The line can be long sometimes but they are efficient and keep it moving faster than you’d think.

Amazing burritos at an affordable price. If you saw my review from 2014, the burritos used to be about $3. Currently, burritos range from about $7 to $10, still very affordable for all homemade ingredients including the tortilla. You can watch the worker press each tortilla as you order. You can also buy fresh homemade tortillas to go, 4 in each pack!

Burritos can be on the smaller side, so order 2 or 8. You can get other sides they sell in the store, like a mini mini-mart. Highly recommend the chili verde burrito and the carne asada burrito, although I’ve enjoyed every burrito I’ve tried at El Charrito. They forgot the hot sauce on my carne asada burrito last visit, but the burrito was still tasty.

Order ahead if you don’t want to wait and it’ll be ready for pick-up!

Fresh, Thin, Perfect flour tortillas that don’t get soggy and drip. 10/10 Bfast burritos. Will go here every single time I pass through. Better than most Bfast burritos in LA.

Not what I was expecting for breakfast burritos. They were much smaller than I was expecting. Ended up getting two. That was nice because I could try two different kinds. I was expecting a large burrito that I could eat half that day and save the rest for the next day. That did not happen.

Order ahead of time if you are in a hurry. Ordering inside may look like it is going to take a while if the line is snaked around the queue, but the staff are very efficient in keeping the line moving. We had the burritos and bowl. Food is tasty. If you are gluten-free, get the bowl because the tortillas for burritos and the bread for the tortas are made with flour. Aguas frescas are good. Was not on the menu but available if they have not run out, is the cucumber, spinach, and lime agua fresca-quite tasty.

Quick service, no frills. Delicious Mexican food. Burritos are reasonably priced, but not large. Employees are efficient and friendly. No tables inside – only 2 or 3 tables on the patio. This is mainly a take out place.

El Charrito has my favorite tortillas! They are always busy but the line moves quickly. My favorites are the chile rilleno burritos and the carnitas burritos. My boyfriend really likes the
chile verde and the rice. The people are always nice and the food is always hot and fresh. The price is very reasonable.

Chiles were really good, tortillas could have been more fresh. No indoor seating and no public bathroom. Worth the side trip if you’re in the area but not if you’re driving down from the bay.
