The okra was hot and crispy. The catfish was okay as it had a different kind of seasoning but it wasn’t for fish. The lemonade did not have a good taste and the strawberry cheesecake had a good taste but later on upset my stomach.

Hip Hop Chicken is absolutely delicious! The chicken is very good, and that powdered sauce is amazing—seriously addictive. I came back twice in one week after tasting it the first time.

The atmosphere was vibrant and lively. The staff, while extremely busy remained pleasant and greeted everyone with a smile. I ordered the catfish filet and chicken wings and I can say the food did not disappoint. They were both fried to perfection and the taste was like an explosion of flavors with each bite. If youre in Jacksonville, no matter what part I would encourage you to pay them a visit.

They were out of tea and most sauces. We always try to dine in. I had the combo meal with shrimp and catfish nuggets. Ernie had the 30 piece shrimp dinner, both dinners were $12.99. They come with fries, coleslaw and a drink. I had lemonade yesterday and it was good, not too sweet-it was just right. Everything was delicious. I just wish they had some cocktail sauce for my shrimp.

While I’ve always received great service at Hip Hop and have been a loyal supporter for over four years, my experience tonight was by far the worst I’ve ever had.
The young man working the drive-thru on Christmas Eve during around 7:30 was extremely unprofessional. When I first pulled up, I was told, “I’ll be with you in a second,” which I completely understood given the holiday. However, that “second” turned into approximately 14 minutes with no response. I said “hello” twice before finally being acknowledged.
During this time, the employee exited through the back door at least twice, which I assumed was to run orders. That wasn’t an issue—I remained patient. What was concerning was hearing him loudly yelling profanity, including racial slurs, apparently toward another employee while trying to get back inside.
When he eventually took my order, he repeated it incorrectly. I corrected him, but he responded, “Yeah, that’s what I already said,” even though it wasn’t. I had to repeat my order a third time before it was finally correct.
At the payment window, I wasn’t greeted and wasn’t told my total. I waited another nine minutes while he stood in the corner texting on his phone and repeatedly cursing while walking back and forth behind the counter. When he finally opened the window fully, he again repeated my order but still didn’t provide the total. I ended up just handing him my card. I received my food and left.
Hip Hop has always employed young staff, and in all my years of coming here, I’ve never experienced rudeness or unprofessional behavior like this. This employee’s conduct was unacceptable and very disappointing, especially given the consistently positive experiences I’ve had in the past.
