We discovered Grassroots for the first time this year at a couple food truck parks, so we decided to go visit one of their actual storefronts. I’m so glad that we did, because we discovered they have an awesome menu of street eats in addition to their variety of unique ice cream flavors! We started with lunch and enjoyed the Asian chicken tacos, Greek rice bowl, and fried chicken. Everything was super tasty! Then we went over to the ice cream side of the building, where I was so happy to see they offered flights because it was hard to pick just one of their flavors! I had never seen black chocolate before, and I ended up enjoying that one the most with raspberry and white chocolate chips. I love that instead of using chocolate chips, they use massive chocolate chunks in the ice cream – my husband had blood orange chip, and it was incredible! It reminded us of the chocolate oranges you get at Christmas. Everyone working there was extremely pleasant and helpful, and both sides of the restaurant were very clean. We will absolutely be back for more!

Grassroots Kitchen + Creamery is hands down one of the best spots around! But it’s not just about the ice cream—their food is just as incredible. The Hairdresser salad is one of my favorites, packed with so many fresh ingredients. The falafel is crispy and flavorful, the hummus is the best I’ve ever had, and the pita sticks have the perfect texture and crunch. Everything is made with such high-quality ingredients, and you can taste the difference.

Their ice cream is top-tier—they don’t use any food dyes, and they absolutely load their flavors with mix-ins, making every bite packed with texture and taste. They always have a great selection of rotating flavors, and my two favorites are Raspberry Cheesecake Brownie and Salmon Brook Mud, which I had in the spring—I’m counting down the days until it’s available again!

I highly recommend stopping in for lunch or dinner and make sure you save room for ice cream!

Incredible flavors you couldn’t even dream of. I’d consider myself an ice cream expert and this place is top notch! Definitely a place I bring friends and family when they are in town.

Stopped in for a quick lunch at this wonderful new location for grassroots street food. We opted for the falafel rap and the Greek gyro. We recruited by both staff members who asked us how we were doing and inquired if we had any questions. The meal was brought out quickly the flavors were wonderful and the portion size was just right if not oversized for a quick bite lunch. Don’t read that as a complaint just read it as they serve you a great portion of food for the price. Definitely will be coming back to this spot. My kids love the ice cream and we frequent the ice cream parlor a lot with their unique flavors It surely a must-stop on your drive-thru Simsbury.

Grassroots Ice Cream & Street Food has three locations; they’re in Granby, Simsbury, and New Milford. They serve over 100 flavors of ice cream and new England style street food. There are wraps, salads, and tacos. They offer unique flavors that pulls in foodies like me. For example, honey lavender and goat cheese blackberry to name a couple. These ice creams are created in small batches at the Granby location.

This location in Simsbury is perfect. There were plenty of parking in the lot in the back. The shop was large, bright, spacious, and with plenty of seating. I’ve been wanting to check them out and stopped in recently because Jason P. inspired me.

I had to try out their goat cheese blackberry ice cream. I opted for two scoops and the friendly employee suggested the blueberry marscapone, since it was a great pairing. It was a match made in heaven! The flavors intermingled and the fruit and cheesy flavors paired well. The ice cream was creamy and you can tell it was made with love. My son had the chocolate ice cream and he loved it. 5 stars for the ice cream; can’t wait to go back to try out their street food!

Food is decent, service is helpful, and the atmosphere is fine. The waitstaff are helpful, but not super knowledgeable on allergens. They have a handy cheatsheet for gluten free and vegan options, and are very helpful in talking to the chefs. As a note their Greek bowl needs to have feta & tsaziki removed to be vegan, not just the feta.
The ice cream is good, they seem to have 2 vegan flavors at all times and their wafflecone is dairy free!
Would come back.

Nice to see they have another location, always loved their street food dishes in Granby. 10/10, recommend the Doner Kebab!

But their ice cream? I really like the fact that they have an assortment of flavors that are unique, but not too crazy. There’s a flavor in there for everyone, I can promise you that. Price is a bit steep compared to larger chains like J. Fosters, but closer to matching local places like Tulmeadow.

Staff were extremely friendly and quick. Location is perfect for those in Simsbury, I just hope they can survive. That specific spot has gone through many restaurants very quickly, probably because the rent is extremely high due to the location.
