Reviews
We have eaten here three times so far, once for lunch and twice for dinner, and loved it.
We ordered snacking bacon, and it was just 3 thin strips of basic bacon with one strip having multiple different temperatures. It didn’t feel fresh…I had hoped for bacon cooked to order.
Our entrees also came super fast. I ordered the chicken pot pie, and unfortunately, the temperature varied depending on what part of the pie I tried. It seemed as if the pot pie was reheated in a microwave, oven, or something, and it was not reheated well.
Our server was also lackluster. She didn’t check in with us about how our food was, or we would’ve told her about the pot pie issue. We waited and waited, and it wasn’t until after my husband had already finished his entire entire that the server came back. There was also a miscommunication or something because I wanted a replacement pot pie, but after I said that was what I wanted, she just took the pot pie off our bill and never brought me a replacement. She didn’t even ask if I were sure I didn’t want anything else because then I would’ve clarified.
The espresso martini was fantastic, though I guess I’m not too surprised because there’s a huge variety of alcohol here. I would’ve been shocked if the cocktails were bad.
My husband ordered the plate with corned beef cabbage, and colcannon. His entree was at a solid temp, and he said it was good. I tried his colcannon and liked it.
We ordered dessert since I still wanted to eat something. My husband got the bread pudding, which was great. I got the creme brulee, which was just okay. I didn’t care for the sugar cookie on top, and the dessert overall tasted a bit too sweet.
I strongly suspect a lot of food here is not made to order, and that clearly hurts the quality of the food. I also think the server we had needs a bit more training in timing, checking in, and communication.
I doubt we’ll come back. I don’t think the owners or whoever would change anything based on my or anyone else’s review.
But, if you want quality Irish food, look elsewhere. It isn’t here.
Stopped by on the way out of Anacortes for an early dinner.
Pleasant wait staff classic (Irish) pub atmosphere.
Had the Banger & Mash and my wife had the grilled Salmon. Both of us enjoyed our meals and felt they were good value for what we had. My wife sampled a tasty Vodka cranberry/ ginger mule for a beverage and I enjoyed a couple pints of Guinness.
First time there, but it won’t be the last.
