Reviews
Arrived a little before 5 and was seated at the bar for a 5:30 reservation. Which was perfect. The head bartender, a Lovely gentleman from Mumbai, gave us a tour of the bourbon and scotch selection and stated the evening off on the right foot. We started with a Shammi Old Fashioned. Very tasty and smooth.
At the table Devin P guided our experience, made sure we were set for our courses and never wanted for anything. He answered our questions and explained everything with ease. He made great recommendations which we took him up on. Everything was excellent but the shrimp starter and the onion xuixo stood out to the party. Entrees were well balanced and we had just the right amount to eat for three people with three starters, naan, three entrees and a side of rice. We even had a little left over for a midnight snack.
Finished with a delicious birthday dessert, comes with a fun table side experience and a carajillo which was fluffy and well balanced.
We will be back to enjoy the beautiful outdoor bar and a few starters!
On this visit, we sampled four main courses, one appetizer, and a selection of mocktails. We skipped dessert only because we were completely satisfied — though having tried their desserts previously, I can confidently say they, too, showcase the same uniqueness and finesse that defines the rest of the menu.
The four-piece chicken seekh deserves special recognition. The portion is generous for the price point, and the quality is outstanding. Cooked to near perfection, each piece is succulent, balanced in seasoning, and finished with precision — a true testament to the kitchen’s skill.
The butter chicken experience remains one of the restaurant’s signature offerings. The depth of flavor is impressive, though on this particular visit, it would have benefited from being served at a higher temperature to fully showcase its richness. The same applied to the tacos — beautifully constructed with perfectly tender, juicy meat and well-balanced flour components. The nihari-inspired sauce was executed exactly as it should be, delivering authentic, layered flavors that resonate deeply. However, a warmer temperature would have elevated the dish from excellent to exceptional.
We also tried the cheese kulcha, which was executed flawlessly. The cheese blend was harmonious and indulgent without being overwhelming. The bread itself was cooked with admirable consistency — lightly crisp through the center while remaining soft, milky, and delicate along the edges.
One small note from this visit: three of the four dishes — including the tacos, butter chicken, and chicken seekh — leaned slightly heavy on the aroma and flavor of elaichi (cardamom). While the spice profile was intentional and fragrant, a slightly lighter hand would allow the other nuanced flavors to shine more prominently.
That said, consistency is a hallmark of great restaurants, and this establishment continues to demonstrate strong culinary discipline overall. The atmosphere enhances the experience even further. Each room feels like a curated museum piece — a living memory of India — and we make it a point to explore a different space every time we visit.
While the nihari tacos are creative and delicious, I would enthusiastically encourage the return of the short rib tacos — whether as an appetizer or an à la carte option. They remain an all-time favorite and would be a welcome addition back to the menu.
Whether you are celebrating a special occasion, hosting a corporate dinner, or simply seeking an elevated and memorable evening out, this restaurant delivers a refined and distinctive experience. With a few minor refinements in temperature execution, it continues to stand as a destination worth revisiting — again and again.
It was genuinely disappointing to learn that the tasting menu was already sold out as early as 6:45 PM. Given how frequently this is mentioned in guest reviews, it may be worthwhile for management to reassess availability or allocation to better meet demand. The tasting experience is clearly a highlight for many diners, and ensuring broader access would only enhance the overall guest experience.
We chose Musaafer for our 3rd wedding anniversary lunch, and it turned out to be a memorable and well-executed fine-dining experience that truly reflects why the restaurant holds Michelin recognition.
From the outset, the service stood out—warm, attentive, and genuinely celebratory. The staff acknowledged our anniversary with a signed card and a complimentary rosé, a thoughtful gesture that immediately elevated the experience beyond just the food. Our server Arina took care of all of our needs very well and helped us have the best experience.
Food & Beverage:
We ordered à la carte and were impressed by both flavor depth and presentation.
Appetizers:
Mithu’s Coriander Shrimp was bright, aromatic, and delicately balanced, while the Lamb Chaanp was tender, well-spiced, and expertly cooked—an excellent start to the meal.
Main Courses:
The Laal Maas delivered authentic heat and complexity without overwhelming the palate, staying true to its Rajasthani roots while still feeling refined.
The Butter Chicken Experience lived up to its name—rich, indulgent, and elevated well beyond the usual restaurant rendition.
Desserts:
Mishti Doi offered a subtle, comforting sweetness, and Gulaab provided a modern, elegant take on a familiar classic—both well-paced finishes to a heavy main course.
Drinks:
The Mango Colada and Chatpata Mango Cooler were refreshing, playful, and thoughtfully paired with the food, offering a nice contrast to the bold spices.
Overall Impression:
Musaafer succeeds not just in presenting high-quality Indian cuisine, but in curating an experience—from ambiance and service to pacing and presentation. The attention to detail, especially on a special occasion, made the visit feel personal and intentional.
This is not everyday dining, but for celebrations or for those interested in modern Indian fine dining done right, Musaafer is absolutely worth the visit.
Would gladly return—and confidently recommend.
Every dish was delicious- a beautiful melody of Indian spices elevated to a refined level. I loved it all, and simply cannot pick one favorite.
After our meal, Khadijah, the manager, gave us a fantastic tour of the restaurant and told us many intricate details of the interior design of place, which we very much appreciated.
Also, shoutout to our server JP, who helped us have the best dining experience, giving us stories behind every dish.
We would definitely return here and 10/10 would recommend to anyone.
The decoration is fascinating and the food is just beautiful. This is not the first Michelin starred Indian place I’ve been, but this is the best I’ve had so far. The set menu is full of surprises and stories. Our server Devin also spent a good amount of time to make sure we understand the food and told us a lot of behind the scenes stories.
Definitely worth a stop in Houston!
An experience you’ll remember for a long time and definitely be back!

2- Chicken tikka seekh 8/10 (tender and the butter chicken tasting sauce was great!)
