Went in on a Monday evening, it was very quiet with some quiet music on but not much of an atmosphere. Ordered popadoms with mango chutney and lime pickle (maybe a little stingy). They were the lightest and freshest I’ve ever had. For main had chicken biryani plus a vegetable curry. Both very tasty. Service was very good . Would definitely go back. Reasonably priced

I might even remember to take a photo of the food before eating it next time!

Before all the dishes have even been served, let me give you my review: It’s really delicious! It seems like it hasn’t been modified much; the spiciness is just right, which is rare. The price is also very reasonable.

I rarely write a review but in this case I have to.
A gem of a place. Proper authentic S Indian food.
So many times Indian food in the UK lacks spice. Here it is really spicy but also great flavour.
The chutney with the pakoras was heaven in a small bowl.
Lovely staff too. I would come again but only visiting Aberdeen. Wish my local Indian restaurants in Devon served food like this.

At first glance, this place doesn’t look like much. The interior is very plain, quite white and bare, and almost feels like a pop up restaurant. It could definitely do with some redecoration and a more welcoming theme. The music was also a bit of a problem as the speaker kept cutting in and out, which was pretty distracting. They’d have been better off just turning it off.

That said, this is one of those times when first impressions are completely wrong. The food is what really counts here, and it was absolutely amazing. It’s very authentic Southern Indian cuisine, full of bold flavours and spice. It was a little too spicy for me at times, but the quality and depth of flavour made it worth it.

All the meat was cooked perfectly, especially the mutton, which was incredibly tender and rich.

I’ve heard it can be hit or miss, but on our visit, they absolutely nailed it. I couldn’t recommend it enough if you’re after proper, authentic Southern Indian food and don’t mind a simple setting.

My only complaint was that the staff seemed a little confused at times, but we were a large group, so it didn’t spoil the evening.

Feels like home food, and one can never miss India if you are here. Taste is top notch. Kudos to the chef.Pure South Indian style food. As and when I landed in Scotland, this is the first place I entered, and have my everyday dinner/lunch here. Price is also reasonable. Very friendly staffs and Management, and they show great hospitality. I’m trying all the items here, and everything looks like a ‘must try’. Highly recommended for people who wants to go with Indian food in Aberdeen.

Food is great! Tastes nice, lots of flavour. Really well priced, very affordable.
Large menu to select from. Staff are really friendly and helpful, gave us lots of suggestions and recommendations.
For starter we had chilli prawns that were so good my partner ordered some more. He gave it a 10/10 and staff accommodated the spill level for him too. I ordered “chicken 65” and it was delicious. Really similar to chicken pakora you would get here.
Mains were a tiffin and chicken noodles, so yummy. We had to take it away with us
For Dessert – Bread halwa ? That was phenomenal 10/10 . So glad we asked and tried it. Very light, spongy, flavourful and the right level of sweet.

Spent about £25pp on 3 courses and a drink. Super affordable

Thanks so much! Will definitely be back

Worst dining experience ever – Avoid at all costs!

I rarely eat out due to hygiene concerns, and after this experience, I’m convinced I should stick to home-cooked meals. A friend of mine, who has been a regular at this place, recommended their lamb biryani, so we decided to give it a try.

Starters were decent, but everything went downhill from there.

The first red flag? The waiter brought out the biryani before even setting the table with cutlery. Who does that? Then, when I looked at the dish, my immediate reaction was WHAT?! This wasn’t biryani—this was rice drowned in a lamb curry!

The texture was off—mushy, sticky, and unappetizing. It had that unpleasant consistency you find in food that’s been sitting around for too long. I immediately called over a waitress and explained that I had ordered biryani, not rice mixed with lamb curry. Who knows how long that curry had been stored in the kitchen? There was no way I was risking my health eating this.

And then came the worst part—THEIR “SOLUTION.”

Instead of preparing a fresh dish, they took the same mess back to the kitchen, tossed it in a pan to reheat it, and brought it back, pretending it was “fixed.” Seriously?! Do they think customers are fools? If I wanted reheated leftovers, I could’ve stayed home!

At this point, we decided we were done. We asked for the bill, expecting at least some acknowledgment of their mistake. But instead, the waiter told us, “Our management will blame us if we don’t charge you for the dish, even if you didn’t eat it. We tried to make it twice for you, but sorry for not meeting your expectations.” What kind of excuse is that? If you mess up a dish, you own the mistake—you don’t charge customers for inedible food!

And just when I thought the experience couldn’t get worse, the waiter had the audacity to ask, “Would you like to take the biryani away? I can pack it for you.” Excuse me?! You expect me to take home spoiled food that I already refused to eat? The sheer lack of customer service and basic common sense was shocking.

Final thoughts:
If you’re going to put a dish on the menu, make it properly—don’t serve whatever you feel like and claim “this is how it always is.” This place is a disgrace. Never coming back.

If I had the intention to make a complaint, I wouldn’t have paid for what I didn’t have. You didn’t have any complaints till now because you probably didn’t serve the same food to others or maybe it’s the people who didn’t know what spoiled food looks or tastes like. I don’t expect anything like a royal taste for the outside food cause I know how much it takes to make good food. All I ask is to serve customers with fresh food. Also I never mentioned about my personal taste because I’m open to try new foods. You cannot taste or smell spoiled food through CCTV.

Food is tasty but they should increase portion size for the money, I ordered onion dosa, thayir vada, lamb biryani and parota with methi chicken. But lamb biryani portion is very small , completed it less than a minute very small portion for the price it should be double the size. Onion dosa is tasty but very Oily for some reason they fried onions and put it in dosa so that dosa is very greasy and became saggy. Thayir vada is not recommended , some weird species in it, first time I ate this. Overall fine, good experience, not that bad.

My friends and I randomly stumbled upon this restaurant, planning to order just a single course for everyone. But we ended up trying almost every dish they had to offer! I’ve been to many South Indian restaurants before, but none of them come close to this one. Absolutely outstanding food and flavours. A must-try place ❤️

The food at Madurai Chattinadu was absolutely phenomenal! We ordered a variety of starters and mains, and everything was cooked to perfection. I’ve become a big fan of their cooking and enjoyed every bite.

If you love Indian food, this place is a must-visit. The flavors are amazing, and it’s very affordable too. Highly recommended!
