The food is quite good and prices are fine. (It’s a little pricey for Milford but not obnoxious for the quality.) The location is good, close to the water, though the gravel parking lot is a nightmare for any woman who tries to traverse it in high heels. Unfortunately, a couple of horrific experiences prevents me from giving this place a stronger rating. We went once and found the live music to be quite loud, but it was only my husband me, so we made do. We went back a few months later with friends we hadn’t seen in quite some time, and we wanted to converse and catch up. The music was so incredibly loud, however, that we had to shout to hear one another. My throat was raw and hoarse by the time the meal mercifully concluded. Our friends looked incredulous and horrified, and we felt embarrassed and guilty because we were the ones who recommended the restaurant. The band was playing so loudly, it seemed as though they thought they were in some type of outdoor arena instead of a very small, indoor space. It was an unbelievable common sense failure. I wanted to return another time after this experience (a glutton for punishment, I suppose, but it’s Milford, so options are limited unless you want to go to a dreadful corporate-owned chain restaurant), but I asked if there would be live entertainment that night, and they said yes. No way am I ever going back there when there is live music. I chose another restaurant that night instead. After about a year’s absence, we recently returned to the Beach House with friends (they chose the restaurant) and had a nice time, but my first two experiences there have so thoroughly scarred me that I will never go back there willingly without advance assurance from the staff that a band will not be playing. Make sure you ask if there will be live music when you call for a reservation; and if they say yes, there will be live entertainment, do yourself a favor and choose another restaurant.
