This place has the best tasting Taco del mar food in the South sound, And maybe anywhere. He really cares about keeping his food fresh. I’ve never been to a Taco del Mar that had any fresher food than the Tacoma location and I’ve probably eaten more Taco del Mar than your average person being as though I’m from Seattle and started eating Taco del Mar the day they opened. Usually multiple times per week, sometimes multiple times per day. I live quite a ways away from his location 160 mile round trip, and I do it two to three times a week to eat his food. That’s how addicted to Taco del Mar I am. But only certain ones. And this guy has one of the best.

Brought my wife here after years of telling her how delicious it was. The owner had previously made me a promise. He stuck to his word weeks later when I could finally bring my wife in. And she absolutely love it!! Thanks again! We will return for sure!

Can get spendy if you’re not careful – $25-30 for two people. New fish cost $2 extra! Yummy, make it your way taco, burrito bar. Owner is nice when you get to know him, Cala is awesome, always. Big discount every 10 visits. Hole in the wall with maybe 4 tables. We always take it to go.

Came here to eat for a family of three..so we wanted three fish taco combo meals. Now, would you assume this would be simple for the employee to ring up? Three combo meals would consist of (2) fish tacos, (1) drink, and (1) side each. That was exactly what we were given, but we were also billed for (6) more fish tacos, (1) side salsa, (1) chips and salsa we were NEVER given. Taco del Mar also applied a “bag fee” even though we dined in. The restaurant only had one employee who seemed more occupied with his phone than providing service. The bathroom was disgusting and had no way to lock from within. Not accommodating for families with babies. Dont eat here….the price of dining here certainly is not worth the quality rendered.

We repeated this review on their website, and their response was basically short acknowledgment without sincerity or attempt to recompense our bad experience. Still unhappy customers.

Honestly I’ve been holding onto this for a year and have to put it on here. The owner is stingy. He works all the weekdays and he will give you HALF portions compared to any other location.
Last year I drove up to get 3 taco salads for me and my family close to closing time. There was about 4/5 people in line. The owner was working. There were different modifications to each salad due to food sensitivities and allergies. I believe my sister wanted extra beans and rice since she does not eat meat I stated that he proceeded to put the TINIEST amount of rice and beans EVER. When I asked if he could put more in, he looked me dead In the eyes, glanced back and the line of 3/4 customers, scoffed, held up his ladle, and said “I’ve got other people to feed here” HE WAS RATIONING the rest of the food as if I was begging for food at a soup kitchen when I was in fact paying almost $50!!! When I brought the salads back home my mom and sister looked at the quarter full salad shells and said why are they so empty?
I still cannot believe he acted as if I was a nuisance for asking for a regular portion of food. He is literally Mr. Crabs.
He has people offering to work weekdays for him and he said “id rather work it myself cause it saves me money” totally fine however you can tell he is trying to save money else where too, by skimping on food. He’s also just RUDE. If any of my family pull up and see he’s the one working we leave and eat some where else.

Hands down, this is consistently the best Taco Del Mar location there is, and it has been for about 20 years now. The owner, Mark, runs a tight ship, employs good people, and cares deeply about the quality of the product being served. You won’t find a better burrito from any Taco Del Mar out there and that’s just a fact.
