The pasta was soft, creamy, and full of flavor. The fries were perfectly crispy—so good that it felt like stepping into “potato land”! The noodles were cooked just right and were delicious with every bite. The real stars of the meal were the honey chili chicken and the nachos—both were incredibly flavorful and satisfying. To complete the experience, the coffee and chai were equally tasty and comforting.
The only downside was the pizza. It lacked flavor and didn’t quite match up to the standard of pizzas available elsewhere in India. A little more effort in seasoning and toppings would have made it much better.
On the bright side, the service was impressively fast, and the live music added a wonderful vibe to the atmosphere, making the overall dining experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, despite the minor pizza disappointment, it turned out to be a delightful find in Shimla and a place I would happily visit again.
If you’re in Shimla and looking for a place that blends culinary brilliance, English music, and panoramic views, Cafe Simla Times is your go-to spot. Perched with a stunning overlook of the town, this café offers an experience that’s as much about the atmosphere as it is about the food.
The ambience is effortlessly charming — cozy yet vibrant, with music that sets the perfect mood whether you’re there for late lunch or a late evening bite. The menu is a delightful journey across flavors, offering something for every craving.
Some standout dishes that truly impressed:
1) Shish Taouk Kebabs – tender yoghurt-marinated chicken skewers with Lebanese spices, served with warm pita. A burst of Middle Eastern flavor!
2) Diced Chicken Kung Pao Style – spicy, tangy, and perfectly balanced with crunch.
3) Grilled Cottage Cheese Veg Burger – hearty, flavorful, and a great vegetarian option.
4) Lasagna – rich, cheesy, and comforting, just the way it should be.
5) Onion Rings – crispy, golden, and addictive.
Whether you’re sipping a matcha while watching the mist roll over Shimla or digging into kebabs with music in the background, Cafe Simla Times delivers a memorable hilltop experience.
The service truly stood out. Rajan Khachi was extremely attentive, polite, and made our dining experience memorable.
Great food, remarkable service, and a wonderful overall experience. Highly recommended!
They also have an underground dining area. The serving time however is more.
The ambiance is lively, especially on weekends when they host live music performances that add a vibrant charm to the experience. The cafe offers a wide range of food and liquor, catering to all kinds of tastes. From flavorful snacks to full meals and drinks, there’s something for everyone.
Overall, the atmosphere, the view, and the vibe make it one of the top spots in Shimla. Highly recommended if you’re in town!
1. Location: Prime location, right below where I was staying (Willow banks). Views from some seats at the cafe were good, but such views are available at most places in Shimla.
2. Service: Needs series review and upgrade. Many service personnel running around but offering no service.
3. Music: I will be cautious here and will not pin point anything. Highly recommend better quality live music, with the emphasis on quality and not on who ever is available at a low budget.
4. Food: I was recommended to have pizza. Enjoyed the first few bites, till it was warm. In 2-4 minutes my pizza was cold and soggy and chewy. Had ordered a soup also, which was well below par. The worst part, this was my dinner and I had serious stomach issues that night.
5. Atmosphere: Mostly youngsters or first second daters or newly married couples, chit chatting their time away. Good vibe. Only recommending to have a section where room heaters work and not available for the service personnel to say, it’s running but don’t know why it’s not working.
Overall, tried once, and once is enough for me.
