We got there and got straight in, in the afternoon in a Wednesday. We got the crawfish pie and it was so good!! Very flavorful and crisp. We tried a burger and a veggie sandwich too. Everything was very yummy and worth going back for. The fries were a big hit! The creole flavor was our favorite.
We got the idea to visit here from Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and so far we haven’t been let down!!!

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Elsie’s Plate & Pie. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm, welcoming, and unapologetically Louisiana.
I started with the Cajun crawfish queso, and it set the tone immediately. Creamy, rich, and perfectly seasoned, it had just the right amount of Cajun kick without overpowering the sweet, tender crawfish. Every bite was bold and comforting — the kind of appetizer that makes you slow down just to enjoy it.
For my entrée, I had the crawfish hand pies, and they were outstanding. The crust was flaky and buttery, golden on the outside and packed with flavorful crawfish filling on the inside. You can tell there’s real care in the seasoning — balanced, savory, and deeply satisfying.
The roasted Brussels sprouts on the side were a perfect complement. They were cooked just right — slightly crispy on the edges, tender in the center, and seasoned in a way that made them more than just a side dish. They held their own.
And then dessert… the Tiger Pie. Absolutely incredible. Rich, decadent, and layered with flavor, it was the perfect sweet finish to an already amazing meal. It’s the kind of dessert you think about long after you leave.
Overall, Elsie’s delivered on every level — flavor, creativity, and true Louisiana comfort food. I’ll definitely be back. If you’re anywhere near Baton Rouge, this place is a must-visit.

Do you know when you experience a place that you won’t soon forget? You take a first bite of something the server recommended and you’re like, “omg” ? This is one of those places.
I was just passing through and thankfully read about this on the Michelin website. It’s definitely worth driving to to try.
Chicken poulet pot pie – 5/5 ⭐ spiciness level between mild and medium. Very yummy.
Side salad – 3/5 ⭐ This was the only thing that I thought was a little boring. Dressing was very good though!
Red beans and rice – 5/5 ⭐
Caramel pecan cheesecake – 5/5 ⭐ worth a trip just for this!

Can’t say enough good things about this place! Their food is delicious, the service is always top tier, and the pie is the best! We’ve been here multiple times and never had a bad meal. I recommend their crawfish hand pies and the seafood bisque. My husband loves their boudin burger. I love all of the pies they have to offer. We had the triple chocolate and vanilla pie which were their specials of the day. Plates were scraped clean! The only downside is parking can be a little tight because they stay busy but there is a parking lot next door to them that can be used if their parking lot is full.

Every dish we tried was impressive and packed with great flavor. It would be wonderful to see some of these items become permanent additions to the menu. The seafood pie that is always available is already a favorite and definitely worth ordering. To finish things off, the desserts were rich, satisfying, and just as enjoyable as the main courses. This place delivers a great dining experience from start to finish.

Was in BR for 3 days visiting my family and ate here ALL 3 days. Absolutely incredible!! Over the course of 3 days we got crawfish queso (every single time this was def the best and got toasted bread with it), chicken pot pie, seafood pot pie, fried shrimp plate, crawfish hand pie, fried chicken and red beans and rice and seafood bisque, blueberry hand pie with lemon glaze (got this every single time)….1. Crawfish queso is an absolute must. 2. Seafood pot pie has got to be the best entree on the menu 3. Even if you don’t like pie you must get the blueberry fried pie….top 3 dessert i’ve ever had. The chicken pot pie was a strong runner up and i got parmesan potatos. The fried chicken and red beans were just that, nothing great. Crawfish hand pie was least fave. Loooooove this place will be back and tell everyone to come!

All the reviews that say how good this place are are true. Tasty food great service and a nice atmosphere. I had the seafood pie with a side of homemade onion rings. The two went perfectly together. My partner had the tomato pie and she said that was also excellent. We did not have to wait since we got lucky and found seats at the bar. But the wait for a table at 11:30 on Thursday morning would have been about 45 minutes.

I can’t believe I have lived in Baton Rouge for 5 years and this was the first time I tried Elsie’s Plate and Pie. It had always been on my radar, but I am bummed that I missed out on it all these years now that I have tried it! Everything we have tried was AMAZING. The flavors were homey and complex. I am not a green fan, but I ate all of these! Will be taking all our visiting friends and family here now. Only downside is since it is well loved, it was very loud in the restaurant.

We dropped into Elsie’s Plate and Pie today and it did not disappoint! I ordered the Natchitoches meat pies with crispy brussel sprouts, and everything was absolutely delicious. For dessert, I had the Eye of the Tiger pie. It was rich, sweet, and the perfect finish to the meal. The food was amazing from start to finish, and the atmosphere was just as good. I’ll definitely be back soon!

I’ve been to this place twice and I…just don’t get it. The food all sounds good, but I’ve largely been disappointed with it. On a previous visit, my boudin burger was just kinda mediocre. This visit, I ordered the meat pies. I’m not sure what happened but I think they mixed them up, because I got one meat and one crawfish. I liked the meat pie, but the crawfish just had too much seafood funk taste. The fried onions were delicious, I’ll say. The chocolate creme pie had a bit of a weird tangy flavor and the texture wasn’t great, it was almost like it had been sitting in the fridge or freezer too long.
The worst offense by far, though, is that the place is so ridiculously loud. Like I couldn’t hear the people across the table from me. Some sound panels on the walls or ceiling would help.
I wouldn’t have come back here, but my friends really like it and wanted to go, so here I went. Like I said, I don’t get it.
