I absolutely adore Dairy Queen and have had so many wonderful experiences there over the years. Their menu is always delicious, the staff is typically friendly, and I’ve always looked forward to stopping by for a treat. Unfortunately, this recent visit was a bit of a letdown and I felt compelled to share my thoughts.

For starters, I was simply looking to order a basic cup of water with my meal. I’ve done this countless times at other fast-food restaurants and never had an issue—after all, water is a basic necessity, especially when you’re having a meal. However, this time, the staff at Dairy Queen refused to let me order water. WATER! I couldn’t believe it. I politely asked, as I always do, for a cup of water to accompany my food, and was met with resistance. I was told that I would have to pay for a bottled drink if I wanted something to drink with my meal. Now, I understand if there are policies or if they have some sort of reasoning behind it, but it felt ridiculous and incredibly frustrating. I’ve been a loyal customer for years, and I was shocked by the lack of basic service.

After that, I tried to push it aside and hoped my food would make up for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, it didn’t. When I received my order, the food was cold. Now, I get that sometimes things don’t go perfectly, but this felt like a major oversight. My meal wasn’t just lukewarm; it was downright cold. I couldn’t help but feel disappointed, especially after all the great visits I’ve had in the past. I understand the rush of the day or a busy kitchen, but it’s disheartening when you’re served something that doesn’t meet the usual Dairy Queen standards.

It’s tough to feel this way about a place I’ve loved for so long, but I hope this is just a rare off day. I know the staff is usually friendly, and the food is typically great, so I’m hoping this was just an isolated experience. I really do enjoy Dairy Queen, and I’d like to believe that this issue will be addressed to ensure that future visits are just as great as the many others I’ve had in the past. At the end of the day, it’s the small things that matter—like providing basic customer service and serving food at the appropriate temperature.

I really hope Dairy Queen takes this feedback to heart and that my next visit will remind me of all the great experiences I’ve had before. I’m still a fan, but I do expect better, especially when it comes to simple things like water and warm food.

I would like to say that I’m typically a person who is very understanding because I know that working a job, especially in the food industry is very hard, but we have the choice to keep working there. Therefore, if I could leave a Zero star I WOULD!! When I entered Sioux Center Dairy Queen as per usual I ordered meals and blizzards, but of course, the cashier person came out from behind. Mind you the service that this young lady gave us was not typical of great customer service. She took about 5 minutes to come in. The place wasn’t even busy. She asked us what we wanted with a rude tone and expression. After ordering, I expected the place to be clean, but it was surely messy, the tables were dirty and sticky, the floors looked like they needed to be mopped and there weren’t even lids of cups. I wanted to tell the staff, but surely it did not feel safe to do so. All staff members were behind, all giggling and not being mindful. It took about 25 minutes for my food to come, but of course, it was cold. The staff was fighting about who should hand out the food in the lobby. I will surely not be returning to this DQ ever. The service was bad, the staff was not friendly, the cleanliness was not on point, and it took forever to get my food. Not to mention the blizzards were not flipped and were very runny.

I’ve been to Dairy Queen a few times in the last couple months and every time the wait is very long. I’m a patient person so I wait because I enjoy the food. Today I waited 15 minutes and the kind lady that helped me couldn’t even understand what I was asking for. She ended up having me pull to the window to try that. Even then she couldn’t figure it out so I ended up politely leaving and not getting anything. I really hope they can fix the issue of understaff. The people working there seem to be doing the best they can but they need help and a bit more training. I’ve always been a bigger fan of Dairy Queen than Culver’s but I ended up going to Culver’s today. I’ve got a free coupon to Culver’s and I’ve never used it because I’m a Dairy Queen man. I hope the owners of the store can do what it takes to get some help and keep it open!

We ordered a banana split but was told don’t have bananas so why do they have a coupon in the paper for a special for banana split & not have bananas so then ordered peanut butter parfait we got it & the ice cream was so soft it turned to liquid so something has to change at Dairy Queen or they won’t have business.

After being stared at by all 3 employees for 10 minutes as they discussed a video on someone’s phone, the male employee finally rudely asks what we want. Kept snapping and getting rude with my son and generally acted like he hated everything about the place. The food was good, but the sloppiness and rudeness of the employees means I will spend my money at Culver’s instead. Do better.

After acting like she couldn’t understand us through the speaker which made sense when we got to the window and they were all talking and cutting up Aury then continued to rub her chin checks lips and nose repeatedly. She made our blizzard and slush. The slush had so little cherry flavor you couldn’t tell it was cherry and the blizzard was way to piled up for the cup so melted over the cup edges a lot. That i disliked but the face wiping bate handed especially nose and mouth is not sanitary at all.

This Dairy Queen should honestly just go out of business because the past four times we have tried to go they have not been taking orders. Mind you this is during typical operating hours. We watch multiple cars go to the drive thru speaker and get turned away per usual. On the blue moon occasion that they do choose to serve you, it’s going to be the worst service you’ve ever received, even for a fast food chain. After waiting at the speaker for at least 5 minutes, you will be greeted with an annoyed tone. Same story when you roll up to the window. You will sit there for about 5 minutes, and then when they open the window the only words they speak to you is your total. Then they slam the window shut and you wait another good 5-10 minutes before they hand you your runny blizzard without even doing the signature flip. Even if you didn’t order a side, every purchase comes with a side of eye rolls, rude facial expression, and attitude! And boom, what was started as a fun ice cream excursion turns into a 30 minute ordeal and a spoiled mood. Not impressed!!

I waited half an hour for 2 kids meals and a cheeseburger. Our ice cream was melted before we had our food, and they up charged for 2 pieces of cheesecake added to a blizzard. I will never go back.

Was just handed a soggy cone which fell into my lap/dash. No apology. No napkins given, just a blank stare.
Had to go into the store to clean up & had to ask multiple times for a refund.

Always very slow and always under staffed. Anytime we get ice cream the blizzard is never turned over because it is soft and melted. The young girl working was did an excellent job trying to accommodate us. The two guys didn’t seem to care. Needs a management staff present.
