We’ve been trying to come here since they opened but every time we thought of it, it was Sunday when they were closed We finally remembered this past Saturday. The space is cute and quirky–kind of retro with the old signs, booths, and colors.

They have a very diverse menu but I had already decided on my drink before we arrived. It was a random cold day after some spring weather so I ordered the Spicy Coconut Milk Latté after reading another review. It was SO GOOD! It warmed me up inside and was the perfect combination of lightly sweet and creamy. My husband got his usual cold brew and enjoyed it thoroughly. I decided to try their Heaven on Toast with pistachio butter and it was a great snack to start our busy Saturday! We grabbed one of each of their green caffeine drinks (Cobra Verde) to-go. Not only do they make their own energy drinks but they also roast their own coffee beans!

The owners are really nice, and seem like very avid and involved members of the community. Someone came in needing help and they both dropped everything to assist this person. Good coffee and good people have renewed my faith in the world. Please support this business! Also, the prices absolutely cannot be beat here!

Small local business with great coffee! Took an extra minute to support a local business and I’ll be back. Cortado was great!

Also, gluten free egg sandwich highlighted. I didn’t have one but know my sister is always on the hunt for places that get gluten options!!

Stopped at Wake Up to check them out for the first time! The owners were super friendly and taught us a few things about their roasting process. Tried the spicy coconut milk latte and it was nice and warming on a cold winter day!

Small intimate feel. Great employee but that slows the service. But their prep and service is awesome. Worth the wait. You can go look and art and just chill. And then be wowed when your drink comes!

I tried the log cabin and egg sandwich. Wife did pumpkin spice and an egg sandwich.

What a gem! Des Moines is lucky Wake Up Iowa found a home here!

The location is charming, quirky, and comfortable. An easy place to meet up with a friend for a good chat and 8am affogatos, bring your laptop and get some work done, grab a gluten free snack or stop in and check out the incredible little art gallery inside.

The staff (owners) are warm, genuine, and welcoming. True hospitality. They are always making updates to the shop and menu and are excited to share all of it.

And last but not least the coffee!!! If I’m being honest that what keeps me coming back (when I’m lucky multiple times a week!) – they seriously have an amazing product. They roast their own beans, make homemade syrups and have delicious creative offerings. My favorites are the chai and honey lates. If you’re not a coffee guy they make their own delicious (and I kid you not, healthy) energy drink, plus teas and tons of fun stuff.

Yes, this is not a “I’m running late to work I’ll get some caffeine through a drive through” experience. And I’m so glad it’s not. It’s high quality, real care, and damn good drinks!!!

I finally stopped in and absolutely loved it! The vibes, the service, the coffee — all immaculate! I’ve been enjoying the bag of beans I took home too.

I’m looking forward to my next visit! So happy to have such a rad place in the neighborhood!

Bougie coffee flavor options. The miso latte was delicious – lightly sweet with incredible depth of flavor. Highly recommend. I noticed the other syrups were house made. Also excited to see local honey offered.

Will be adding this spot to my list! Even though it’s a bit off the beaten path it’s definitely worth the visit. Grab a unique drink or a delicious bite and check out the art gallery while you’re there.

I have visited Wake Up Iowa Coffee on Douglas Avenue at least four times now and, well, I keep coming back for more!

I have tried a different drink every time, and today I had an iced honey latte which was OH SO GOOD! I’ve been trying to drink it slowly to savor it!

The shop has a fun and funky vibe, think a little bit of a California/Iowa City feel, and I felt at home the moment I walked in. Everyone is welcome and accepted in this inclusive space.

There is a great seating area and a unique and well-prices menu. I have asked for recommendations on drinks and appreciated the friendly advice and service. There is something for every taste and preference.

The shop is near the Lower Beaver and Beaverdale neighborhoods, and is conveniently located. Parking is plentiful.

This is a gem of coffee shop and I will be back on the regular!
