Reviews
Yes, it’s not the first McDonald’s, it’s painted through the lens of Ray Kroc, and there’s definitely some revisionist history going on.
But it’s still a glimpse into what McDonald’s once was. The Golden arches design, the attached museum, the large parking lot with a walk up window, it’s more than just a standard McDonald’s.
However, it’s not immune to the usual flaws. Service can be slow, orders may be wrong, and it feels a little unkempt. But it’s so worth a trip to this underrated location to appreciate a little piece of Americana.
And definitely try the fried apple pie!
After the tour, I grabbed a classic Coca-Cola, and it was the perfect refreshing treat. The staff were so nice and friendly, and the whole atmosphere was just great. This location in Downey is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates a unique and nostalgic experience. Highly recommend!
OTHERWISE this place is incredibly dirty, not a place I would ever consider going back to visit, ever! If I were near and wanted an apple pie I’d order to go. The eating area was filthy. The museum isn’t really anything worth viewing, it’s really not well put together, and dirty.
Service was terribly slow and it was uncomfortable ordering at the window. The ordering experience resembles what it was like in the late 70’s just without the friendly service.
This place could be awesome with some TLC. Just because something is old doesn’t mean it needs to be dirty and broken. The sign could be fixed and painted. The ordering window needs a serious update, I could write a book but I’m sure you get the picture. The food is way more expensive than other locations in the area, if they were using the money for an update that would be great but it doesn’t seem like they are doing that. Use caution if your ordering curbside, eh I was hoping to leave a great review. It is what it is
