If you’re anywhere near Cartersville, you have to stop at The Varsity — it’s classic, delicious, and full of nostalgic charm! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with that iconic “What’ll ya have?” and instantly transported to true Georgia tradition.
The food is exactly what you’d expect (in the best possible way): hot, fresh, fast, and packed with flavor. The chili dogs, onion rings, and frosted orange are absolute musts — comfort food at its finest. Portions are generous and everything came out piping hot.
The restaurant is clean, the service is quick, and the staff is friendly and upbeat. Even when it’s busy (and it usually is!), they handle the crowd like pros.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or visiting for the first time, The Varsity in Cartersville delivers the perfect combo of great food, classic vibes, and Southern hospitality. I’ll definitely be back! ✨

Still not sure what all the hype is over with “The Varisty”?? Simply Disgusting!
2nd time I’ve tried it, same experience. Cold, cheese not melted, I wouldnt feed this to my dog! The hamburger patty literally feels like rubber! I’m tempted to take it under the microscope!
Fries were cold, not salted, asked for ketchup and mayo, We got Honey Mustard and Mustard… Never again!

My son and I love the Varsity but had never been to this location until a recent trip to Ellijay brought us up this way. The food was on point. Store is on the smaller size but has an awesome outdoor eating space. Everything was clean. Food was great! Onion rings and chili burgers and the oh so delicious Frosted Orange were all fantastic. One of the workers, Alyssa I think is what the name tag read, was truly hustling. She had the drive thru mic on, was wiping counters, busing tables, cleaning the drink area, taking orders at the register. Super friendly and hard worker. Whoever her supervisor is, know that she is doing a stellar job.

Ordered drive through this visit. The location was not busy. I got my yummy greasy delicious varsity meal really quickly. 2 chili burgers meal with onion rings and a coke. Service was expectedly short with me and did their job perfectly well. This location is really small but the building size is not a problem when getting drive through service.

I was so excited to go to the varsity after seeing all the pictures online we arrive and walk into the lobby just to be greeted by a bunch of flys buzzing when we got to the counter and we ordered sat down to notice the old seasoning shaker with what it seems to be mold once we got the food the burgers was completely flat and the patties tastes like sausage even took the fry’s another 5 minutes to come out that was the only thing decent was the fry’s and the drink. Which you get like 4 option, WITH NO SWEET TEA how can you be in the south with no sweet tea we literally threw away the 30$ worth of food for 2 people which is ridiculous and we left and went to Chick-fil-A next door to anyone reading this don’t waste you’re time or money at the varsity in Emerson ga

Heard a lot about Varsity but it didn’t live up to the expectations. The Burger was well… you can see in the pictures, the bun was completely flat like a pancake, the Burger didn’t taste that great. And the Bacon was very thin and hardly cooked. The fries had an earthy taste, really not nice and wasn’t seasoned. Staff was polite but had to wait quite some time for the food to be served.

Food was not good. Onion rings were cooked to a crisp. Fries were ice cold. Burger was cold and fixed wrong. Service could have been better if they weren’t so busy back there playing. Nothing was stocked. No lids. Had to wait on those. Out of several things. The FO was barely orange tasting. The chili dogs were the only thing that was good. Didn’t get a picture of the other food.

So we like the Varsity it’s kind of a tradition here in Atlanta and surrounding areas . We would go to the Varsity before or after the Braves game. Now that there is one closer to us we were excited. However ,it always seems like there’s a problem with the service. Today is no exception. I placed my order and got my box. Then I had to ask where’s the rest of my order? Then I got home to find out, I got onion rings instead of fries. Their onion rings are good, don’t get me wrong. I just prefer fries, and fries is what I ordered. So, in summary if you go to this location; the food is good but check your order because they will not.

It doesn’t come close to the one downtown. The onion rings were very hard and crunchy. It tastes slightly burned. I’m not sure they use Vidalia onions; perhaps just regular sweet onions, but it’s a difference. The special Varsity Orange soda was missing something. Maybe it will get better. Let’s try again at another time.
