It’s a very small restaurant. I was there shortly after it opened, and it was filthy. The walls and the floor need a good cleaning.
I ordered the sashimi lunch. The green salad was good. The miso tasted sour. I ate a piece of fish that didn’t taste fresh and then saw a hair on another piece, so I was done. I told the chef there was a hair, he looked at it and asked if I wanted my food in a box to take home. I declined.
I paid for my salad and left.
I will not be returning.

We had a terrific dinner at Sakana and can’t wait to return! My kiddos shared a kids plate with chicken, fried rice, and veggies. My hubby ordered a California Roll and a Shrimp Tempura Roll. I ordered a Volcano Roll. Everything was exceptional! The kids were happy and had plenty of food, I’m glad we had them share! My hubby and I each tried all three rolls and were very happy with them all. I loved my Volcano Roll best, while my hubby loved his Shrimp Tempura Roll best. Our waitress was great! She was polite and kind and took good care of us! I’ve been meaning to try Sakana for some time and now I’m sure we’ll be in there weekly! Great place!

The sushi rolls were as fresh as you could get them in the Midwest. The smoked salmon sashimi had a really good flavor! The crab rangoon was warm, crispy, and fairly flavorful. The gyoza was also warm, crispy, and had good flavor as well. There were plenty of options to choose from on the menu. The service could use some work, though. Not very friendly or welcoming. The soft drinks were brought to the table in a can. When I asked about getting a mixed drink from the bar, they said that they couldn’t make it even though they had the alcohol on display. I’m not sure if I will return to this restaurant to try the other menu items.

This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in the Wichita metro area. It may be a bit out of the way, but it is so worth it. The sushi is such high quality and it’s always incredibly fresh. They’ve expanded their menu and I’m looking forward to trying more of their dishes!

Food flavor wise is great. It’s the portions for the price that gets you. Sushi rolls are more rice than fillings. For the the price compared to similar restaurants you would expect more on your plate.

Consider small town Kansas, surprisingly good. Being born and living in California my entire life before moving to Kansas, this is a pretty good rating, given next to Japan, California is the Sushi capital of the world.

Sushi and sashimi are lightly flavored, so your taste buds aren’t overpowered. Try the mochi ice cream, just hold off on the chocolate syrup otherwise you won’t experience the full flavor.

I had high hopes for this place from reading reviews. I took my family here for lunch, there was only one other table in there at the time. The server seemed very depressed and over whelmed with other things other than tables. The chairs were sticky, the floors were gross. The server gave us a box of tissues, instead of extra napkins. There was child graffiti on the walls on the way to the bathrooms. The bathrooms looked like they haven’t been cleaned in months (hair on toilets and urine everywhere). How does this pass inspections!? Our food came out..they didn’t have fries for my children, so they got rice and chicken nuggets. I had the chicken box (horrible) my mother had 2 different sushi rolls and said we will never be back. The man that made the sushi was helpful and sweet.
