Me and my daughter love this restaurant and the servers are always a joy! We find the atmosphere so cozy and warm but also modern. The good is incredible with tons of flavors and spices that complement each other so well. Its odious that the staff put a lot into the atmosphere and food and are very hospitality fillled.❤️

One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve eaten at in the USA! I live in Atlanta but was here in Alabama for work for three weeks, and even though I usually like trying different places and cuisines, this was the only restaurant I kept coming back to. The food has truly authentic Indian flavors and a mind-blowing taste.

Whether you’re Indian or not, if you enjoy good food or want to experience real Indian cuisine, you should definitely come here at least once. Totally worth it!

As soon as we walked in the first thing that greeted us was a warm smile and an enticing smell. We were sat with menus and water bottles. The menu is extremely diverse, and you definitely might struggle to pick something if you aren’t familiar with the cuisine. Nonetheless you won’t be starved of options. We were a party of 4 and my table, respectively, got the following: tandoori chicken from a clay oven, boneless lamb biryani, chicken mughlai, and fish curry. Everything was amazing and generously portioned. I highly highly recommend the mango Lassi for a little treat afterwards it washes everything down perfectly. Please come here if you can.

A nice surprise. Had the vegetable pakora mix, chana saag, and hyderabadi chicken. All excellent- the basket of pakora was huge and crispy. The chana saag – garbanzos and spinach in a mild sauce was perfect with the medium spicy hyderbadi chicken with whole spices and curry leaves – first time i found it. Friendly place – lots of Indians were eating here as well as a brisk take away business.

This place used to be our go-to, but it’s really gone downhill. Stopped in today, we were literally the ONLY customers, and still had to wait over 20 minutes for food. Ordered onion uthapam and paneer biryani. When the uthapam finally came, it was undercooked — the inside batter was still raw. The server was polite and offered to replace it, but I just let it go and asked for the biryani instead since I was already hungry.

That’s when the inside staff casually tells her the biryani rice isn’t even ready yet. Another wait, and when it finally showed up, it was a complete mess. The biryani was soggy, watery, and the gravy was undercooked — absolutely terrible quality. By then my hunger and mood were already gone. I forced down a few bites and just wanted to get out.

To be fair, the server was respectful and even insisted on packing me an extra uthapam to go, but the kitchen completely ruined the whole experience. What’s the point of good service if the food coming out of the kitchen is such garbage?

Bawarchi is our absolute favorite Indian place in the Birmingham area. Dine-in service is usually pretty quick. Not all that much seating (though booths are spacious), but we’ve never had a wait. Pickup orders can take 30-40 minutes to be ready.

This time around, we ordered kadai chicken, egg tikka masala, plain naan, and a mango lassi. Curries come with rice, and are enough for two meals if eating sensibly (which we often struggle to do here). The kadai is a huge favorite, as is their tikka masala (the egg variant was slightly overcooked, but the chicken is always excellent). Naan are fluffy, and mango lassis are some of the best we had and taste like fresh mangos are used. From other times, we know their biryanis, particularly hyderabadi chicken, are delicious. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Was very excited about Bawarchi but this place disappointed. Visited twice during our travel to other states. No salt in any of the dishes. We had to suggest them to add for us. Pepper fry chicken starter smelled and was stale(they didn’t charge for it at least after telling them). Chicken biryani was Ok. The funniest part is the Masala Dosa, which comes with aloo masala on the side rather than in the Dosa for dine-in too?? It’s disappointing when Indian restaurants don’t do justice to our traditional recipes. Chilli garlic naan was fresh and tasted smooth.
Positive note is they have many options and weekly offers. They have plenty of quick-grab desserts.

You are SLEEPING ON this restaurant Hoover! I came in for lunch and it was completely empty except for a few takeout orders. That astonished me when I had my first taste of butter chicken. It was DIVINE. I can only credit it to the fact that it’s a small family owned hole in the wall in the Academy shopping center, which nobody thinks about when thinking “where should I eat?” The answer is HERE! And I brought the takeout home with me to eat for an entire second meal. I then texted my friends to tell them we would absolutely be eating there together because it’s so good. I’ll be back to try everything else on the menu.
