First I wolfed down that Gnocchi with tender chunks of Beef, I was so hungry, it kept me full the whole day. Oh plus the Winter soup I had was like Potato and Leek. It was so good, so comforting.
The next day I had Pastina soup w chicken and spinach, which was delicious. Oh plus stromboli. OMG. Sirloin steak w 2 cheeses I think. It was to die for.
Then, the next night I had mmmm the Spinach Dip appetizer, with crispy, crunchy bread. I ate the whole thing! I think it was intended for 2, but again I was hungry. This mountain air sure makes for an appetite.
I sat at the gorgeous bar, btw, and enjoyed not only excellent service, but also a Bourbon Peach Cider, or two. ; )
The house salad, which came with dinner, had a plentiful side of dressing, the way I like it, and was perfect. My entree of stuffed peppers was amazing. Peppers were firm, meat was hearty and plentiful. Honestly I had to bring some back to the house I couldn’t eat anymore, I was so full.
The next day I tried the Tiramisu which melted in my mouth. Thanks Nonna, we love you forever.
The cup of coffee and slice of homemade cheesecake, was the best I’ve ever had, really.
Then there was the Roast Pork with provolone and it had those yellow peppers. Oh my gosh, I ate the whole thing.
Last night I sat at the pretty bar again, with all of the fun people. I was given great service as the staff are truly friendly and caring, and had the Seafood pasta, which is worth writing home. It was amazing.
Thank you Zia’s !
What a fabulous week.
I ordered the Pasta Fagioli soup and a Caesar salad with a chicken cutlet, my wife ordered the Bolognese. The soup arrived and was tasty, but luke warm. One of the two accompanying dinner rolls was frozen in the middle. The caesar salad was also tasty, but the added chicken cutlet was cold and the bolognese could have used a little more flavor.
All in all it wasn’t a horrible experience and we are still excited to have another place to eat in town, but a little more attention to detail is needed.
The salad and dinner rolls were fantastic, no notes there. My Bolognese was good, but it felt like someone yelled “More bacon!” and nobody stopped them. Cutting the bacon by about 80% would have let the sauce actually speak for itself. The noodles, though, were perfectly al dente, like they’d been coached by an Italian grandmother hiding in the kitchen.
Overall, a good meal with a few bumps, mostly in the bill and the bacon.
