The employee answering the phone provided good customer service. Making substitutions was seamless; my order was confirmed with the total and estimated pick up time.
The pickup experience was standard. Friendly employee greeting customers once they arrived at the counter. Orders were tracked using the last 4 digits and or name. My order was ready at the designated time.
THE ATMOSPHERE:
Although I didn’t observe any signs indicating the restaurant was under construction, I felt as though I was entering an abandoned work zone. There’s an entire wall of plywood, and many tables are turned over discouraging dine in service.
The floors, non-plywood walls, and especially the ceiling vents are in dire need of a deep cleaning. One could easily mistake themselves as entering an underground NYC subway station.
The pickup counter has a protective plexiglass barrier supported by exposed pieces of lumber. The kitchen is visible. Food preparation stations were relatively tidy.
I strongly encourage investing time into creating an inviting and clean waiting area. In addition to appropriate signage to address the condition of the establishment.
THE FOOD:
The shrimp fried rice was flavorful and tasted very good. I particularly enjoyed the contrasting textures with the onions and bean sprouts. The crab ragoon was cooked perfectly with a very satisfying creamy filling. Both items were the standout bites- above average inviting further exploration of the menu.
The boneless spareribs were meaty but fell short on flavor, and were a tough chew. The chicken fingers had a nice light coating, but the meat was overcooked and dry.
THE VALUE:
Prices and quantity align with their counterparts. However, most Chinese restaurants add a complimentary homemade duck sauce; this restaurant charges an additional fee.
We ordered Szechuan Chicken, Vegetable Chow Mein, and Sautéed Broccoli. The chow mein was horrible. The noodles were so dry and stale. They had a horrible smell and the “stir fry sauce” was disgusting black liquid with no flavor, just salt. The szechuan chicken is also not szechuan chicken, what they served us was sautéed peppers and onions in garlic like sauce tossed with some chicken. The broccoli was dry and flavorless.
Do not waste your money here. If you’re hungry, go somewhere else or stay hungry because their food is horrible.
