I stopped into Fortuna Inn in South Lyon looking for a reliable Chinese takeout spot, and it continues to be the only place in town that consistently delivers. The restaurant is simple and low-key, but the service is quick and friendly every time I’ve been there. I’ve tried several of the dinner combinations and honestly haven’t had a bad one yet. The portions are solid and the food comes out hot and fresh. My personal go-to is the #30 combo, which never disappoints. If you’re craving Chinese in South Lyon, Fortuna Inn is really the only place around that’s worth the stop.

LILLY IS INCREDIBLE! She gave me insight on the dishes because I couldn’t decide and it helped a great deal. Super attentive! She even helped me try and track down the name of a song I heard on the radio and liked.

Which, add on, the music here is fantastic. It’s at JUST the right volume to have a conversation and still hear it.

Booths are comfy, atmosphere is spot on, food is well worth coming back again and again. Bonus, we had dinner for two, with regular drinks and an appetizer for less than $50. Plus there was enough food for me to bring home for leftovers.

Loved the tea, too. I wish I could take some home with me. Actually, I might ask what tea it is to buy myself some for home.

Been going here since I can remember. 1st thing. When you do pick up they gotta child at the register and he looks at you like you better tip. No kid you haven’t moved in 5 customers. I paid 18.00 for my general chicken. I got 42 pounds of rice and a few pieces of chicken. Third… what’s up with so much vinegar in your sauces? Used to love this place before the remodel.

My family has been going to this restaurant for over 20 years! They have the best egg roll! The atmosphere is not very interesting, needs at least a fish tank! Very boring atmosphere, but great food!

When I still lived in MI I loved coming here. They had the best Chinese food! Now that I live out of state, I come here anytime I’m in MI and I’m disappointed. My almond chicken, egg roll & wonton soup were good, not great, but the chicken fried rice is terrible now. Their fried rice used to b my go-to but they’ve changed it to this flavorless mess, I didn’t even bother eating it. Very disappointing!

Please believe the negative reviews!! This was my first and LAST time here…. I WANT A REFUND!! And this food made me sick right away!!!

The food here is awful, I was immediately sick and had to run to the bathroom about 15 minutes after eating the rice with the old discolored hard chicken bits. (See pics because the owner loves to reply to the bad reviews trying to excuse and justify the negative reviews as if they aren’t serving old expired rotten food to paying customers.

The rice lacked any type of flavor and I had to add tons of salt just to make it edible, no veggies or egg, It literally had none, just rice and old hard chicken bits. Mmmm…. See photos

My sweet and sour chicken was fresh and good but the sauce was so disgusting that when I opened the container is slapped me in the face with a foul rotting fermented smell, again, using old expired food to serve your customers…. This sauce was so gross smelling and looking I didn’t even taste it and just ate my plain chicken by itself. The sauce was just like sour rotten jello with carrots in it. I can’t imagine anyone eating this and saying it is good… It was so old it had fermented in the container…….see photos….

The wonton soup was decent and came with 3 small wontons. And green onions. I paid about $4 extra to add this to my lunch combo, I wouldn’t say it was worth it. But it was practically the only thing that didn’t stink or have a rubbery old texture.

After all this wasted food I paid for that isn’t even edible, and wasted money just to be hungry and dissatisfied…SMH….

How do you serve people this nasty expired meat, and sauces and stay in business.

Middle of the weekday lunch rush, and this place had 2 senior citizens in the entire place…… I should have known better!!!

Don’t eat here….

Wonderful food, ordered take out many times, it was only like 10-15 mins every time, pretty fast. The employees are nice and helpful, I love the sweet and sour chicken combination, the chicken and egg roll are so delicious and crispy they have one of the best sweet and sour sauce and the egg roll sauce!! Definitely recommended.

Fried rice that came with the Almond Chicken Combo plate was tasteless. No meat, no scallions, no egg..Greasy fried coating/breading on the Almond Chicken that had no hint of Almonds or even Almond flavor laying on top of browing warm lettuce…Gravy was very liquidity and also lacking in flavor and bland.Large portions thought that my canines enjoyed mixed in with there Purina.

Good food, great service. We were the first people in and had the dining room to ourselves. Service was fast food was well flavored, outside of the chicken fried rice which I felt was bland.

I ordered two quart entrees and they were the most flavorful Chinese dishes I have from any Chinese restaurant in a long time. I got Hunan Beef and Cashew Chicken and both had lots of meat and great sauces. I ordered them medium+ spicy and they each had an appropriate amount of spice. Thank you.
