I visited Pappas Bar-B-Q on Pierce St. for the first time, and it is a fantastic spot for authentic Texas-style smoked meats! I tried the sliced brisket and ribs; both were perfectly smoked with generous portions. The relaxed, counter-serve setup is quick and convenient. A huge bonus for this downtown location is the large free parking lot, which makes visiting so easy. The sides were also great. Highly recommend it if you are downtown craving great barbecue!

My first Houston BBQ experience and conveniently located in downtown. I really loved the open atmosphere and the open seating with plenty of space on a Griday afternoon. I ordered the Rib trio and it was very delicious, and the staff recommended the potato salad and the creamed corn as the go-to sides and it was awesome! We also ordered a kids meal – and everything was room temperature – so the brisket and the fries were just ok. But the original sauce helped with the brisket! It was still nice to add and try it but the ribs were the best.

The place was clean, staff regularly cleaning off the tables and floors. This place also has a drive thru, but it was really nice experience to just relax inside and eat. Enjoy!

I took the beef trio with 2 sides. The major thing was the portion size. I got 3 stripes of brisket which were ok, few sausage bits which were good and a rib which contained of mostly bone with very few meat on it.
The sweet potatoes were great.
It cost 33 Dollars with a glass of soda. I stayed hungry. The taste was ok but wasn’t sufficient in portion size

For just 20+ dollars, you got a full plate of delicious ribs to try out!!! Half self-service, no tip, easy-going workers, relaxing and vibrate dining environment. What can I complain about?!

I ordered the Rib Trio, and it has a well sampled ribs from juicy meat to jerky with different levels of fattiness. One must be able to find his/her favorite. I personally love the juicier baby back ribs the best.

I would definitely recommend it if they keep up the good service!

Stopped in for lunch while the movers handled everything, and Pappas BBQ hit the spot. The brisket baked potato was on point—though I think it could use some bacon. ‍♂️ I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the brisket, especially compared to other Texas chains I’ve tried so far. Solid choice for a quick, satisfying BBQ fix.

Pappas BBQ in downtown Houston is an outstanding BBQ spot that truly delivers. The brisket is incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with rich, smoky flavor — exactly what great Texas BBQ should be. The sides complement the meats perfectly and are just as satisfying.

The décor has an authentic American BBQ feel, giving the place a warm, classic vibe that fits the food and the city. Service is efficient and friendly, making the overall experience smooth and enjoyable.

If you’re looking for no-nonsense, high-quality BBQ in downtown Houston, Pappas BBQ is a must-visit.

Great Food and the place looks just amazing country style.
As a German here in Texas it’s exciting to sit here and watch the very different but all kind people.

Whether you’re feeding a small or large family, try their Value Packs. We get the Family Board, it’s enough for us and leftovers! You gotta try their cheesecake and banana pudding.

Pappas Bar-B-Q is one of those classic Houston BBQ spots that’s familiar and comforting — perfect if you’re craving hearty smoked meats without fuss. I enjoyed the brisket and ribs, which had a nice smokey flavor and generous portions, and the homemade sides (like pecan pie and potato salad) gave the meal a satisfying, down-home feel.

The vibe here is casual and family-friendly, great for lunch or dinner after exploring the city. Some people find the quality varies from visit to visit — portions can be a bit fatty and the flavor sometimes less intense than expected — but overall it’s solid BBQ that hits the spot on a hungry day.

All in all, it’s a reliable choice if you want Texas-style barbecue with big portions, friendly service, and classic sides.
