We got the delicious Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and tenders, as well as the Pesto Pasta Salad and homemade sauces including Big Cat Sauce, Maple Mustard, Hot Chicken Mayo, and Ranch. All of it was SO GOOD!!!!! This was our first time in Nashville and this place was highly recommended when I searched online. I’m glad we chose this place. Definitely recommend!

When my son asked for a chicken sandwich for his birthday, I knew the Foodies of Nashville group would point me in the right direction. I messaged Brave Idiot late on a Sunday night to ask about their setup with No Quarter, specifically whether it was family-friendly and open for our 15 and 20 year old “kids,” and they replied almost immediately with helpful details (yes to kids, the bar even offers drinks for them, and pinball machines if you’re into that—FYI for anyone else needing that info). Brave Idiot is only open Thursday-Sunday though and I wasn’t sure if my son would want to wait that long to celebrate his birthday.

Fast forward a few days, we ended up driving out in pouring rain, grabbed our order from the food truck in the alley (without mentioning my message), and took it inside No Quarter to eat. Before we dug in, someone from Brave Idiot came in, asked for the birthday boy, and surprised him with four giant cookies—remembering a message from days earlier. Incredible customer service!

As for the food: I’m picky about Nashville hot chicken and usually disappointed outside of my longtime favorites. My son ordered the classic chicken sandwich (which he loved) and I got the hot tenders, prepared to be underwhelmed. Y’all… I’m still dreaming about those tenders! The portions were huge so I couldn’t finish them and was excited to take leftovers home. I was devastated when I accidentally threw away my leftovers instead of my husband’s empty container. We’re detoxing from the holidays, but we’ll definitely be back soon!

About No Quarter: We enjoyed the vibe inside and the kids played a few games. You earn tokens for the games with drink purchases, hence the No Quarters name. The bar offers three rooms: a front room with a bar and a couple of pinball machines (most of the other patrons were in this room so we didn’t feel like we were in their way), another room with pinball machines (a few working and a few non-working), and a third room with two small tables, a handful of seats, and a tiny stage that looks like they might have live music sometimes. For anyone visiting in nicer weather, it looks like there’s a decent outdoor dining area behind No Quarter as well.

Incredible place! We went hot chicken tasting around Nashville and I have to say, Brave Idiot takes the cake by far. It is leagues above Hattie B’s or Prince’s. The chicken is actually hot and tastes delicious even if you are dying. I got a 6/10 and it was enough to make me sweat and I consider myself as someone with high spice tolerance (I used to regularly eat buldak 2x spicy).

We ordered the hot chicken sandwich and both of their available sides – the hash browns and the pesto pasta salad. The chicken is delightful – every bite had a perfect crispy crunch and the chicken did not have a single unseasoned area. The sides were both fantastic as well.

Not to mention they also give 10% discounts to cat owners if you show them pictures of your fur children. Very unique perk and a lovely addition to an already amazing food truck! Highly recommend this place if you want a true Nashville hot chicken experience!

Had the 4, 6, and 8… Would say that the four is what I would call default Nashville hot chicken… Just hot enough that you know that’s what you’ve got and what I was sort of expect anywhere… The six was awesome almost the sweet spot… The eight didn’t kill us but it’s just a little past the edge of normal… Do this only if you are a spice enthusiast!

The hot chicken sandwich and pesto pasta were AMAZING and completely balanced eachother out! We loved that showing a photo of your cat allows for a discount too! Very friendly, fast, and efficient service. They give you a buzzer and you can go hang out in the bar next door to play pinball and cool yourself off from the Nashville heat (and the chicken!)

As someone who is truly and graciously spoiled with food in Nashville, this is top tier for me. Easily the best food truck in Nashville. Not so easily the best BURGER in Nashville. And some of the best hot chicken you’ll have. Beware of spice, they DO NOT PLAY. The chef Dylan is a shiny, bright, tasty cherry on top of the entire experience. I love it here. And if you bring your cat to the window you get a discount.

Scale: I had Prince’s “Hot” (there is up to XXX Hot there) the day before, and it was decently hot but I finished the meal. I was a brave idiot for getting a 7 despite warnings from the patient owner to reconsider. I couldn’t finish two strips as my mouth was just on a meltdown.
Food was well presented, and chicken looked crispy and was breaded beautifully. They got benches to sit on, but BYOW (bring your own water) if you arrive before the adjacent restaurant opens.
Next time I will get a 4.

We came to Nashville for a conference, but there was no way we were leaving without trying some hot chicken. My wife and I wanted to dodge the tourist traps and go local, so we landed at Brave Idiot. Great choice—the vibe was awesome, and the food even better.

I had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with homemade pimento cheese, and let me tell you, there was absolutely nothing “idiotic” about it. The chicken was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. The crust had that perfect crunch, the cheese was creamy enough to keep the heat in check, and the buttery toasted bun tied it all together.

I went with medium heat, and it brought just the right amount of fire—spicy enough to remind me I was in Nashville, but not so hot that the fire department had to be on standby. Oh, and the owners? Super friendly and fast.

If we’re ever back in Nashville, we’ll definitely be repeat “idiots.”

This was the best hot chicken I had in Nashville. Clearly someone cares when making this food. The heat scale is 1-10, and 7 is about where it stops being comfortably hot. 8+ and you’re just hurting yourself for no reason. This is a food truck that doesn’t sell drinks, though, so bring your own drinks or wait to go until the bar next door is open.

Authentic style Nashville hot chicken with a twist. This is a must stop spot for locals and travelers alike. They usually offer the traditional chicken tenders, but the rotating menu allows for a different experience every time you visit. Everything I’ve had here is absolutely delicious. Make sure you look at the menu the day of your visit. If you need a drink you can hop into No Quarters for a Coke or beer.
The heat levels are true to Nashville fashion, so make sure you order a lower heat level on the menu if you don’t have much affinity to spicy food.
