For our main courses, everyone really enjoyed the meal they picked out. Portions were large & filling and no one had any complaints on how the food was cooked. There were six of us and in total I would say we were here for about an hour.
The restaurant itself was clean, the chairs were comfortable, and staff/guests generally seemed to be in a good mood.
We will definitely be back. It was our first time here.
The atmosphere itself is nice and has a good vibe. I was meeting clients there and initially felt optimistic. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow—truly slower than molasses. Our server, Laura, was rarely seen. We ordered drinks, and after an excessive wait, we had to get up and find her to ask where they were. The same thing happened when my friend ordered a second drink—we again had to track her down.
When our dinners were served, we had chosen salads as our side. They did not arrive with the meal. Once again, we had to ask Laura where our side salads were. They were eventually brought out after our entrées were already on the table, which only added to the frustration. The service throughout the evening was unacceptable.
The food itself was average at best and disappointing for the price point. We ordered the beef medallions medium, and they arrived well done. At that stage, we didn’t even bother sending them back.
What stood out most was the contrast with nearby restaurants. Many places around us were packed, with people waiting outside. After this experience, it became very clear why customers were choosing those other options.
After looking through recent reviews, we noticed roughly 10 one-star reviews in the last 30 days alone, which makes it apparent this was not a one-off situation.
In a market this competitive, restaurants often only get one shot. I live in North Scottsdale, and with so many excellent dining options closer to home—and even nearby in Gilbert—there is no reason to drive back for this experience.
When you go out to dinner—especially when entertaining clients—you expect timely service and to receive your meal prepared the way it was ordered. That did not happen here.
We won’t be returning.
Lots of options out there, but Brio didn’t disappoint.
