Just good tasty food in a classic American pub kind of atmosphere. They have Greek”ish” options, but it’s more pub than Greek. Friend had her favorite Reuben. I had a huge gyro wrap. Great fries. Both of us took half our sandwiches home. No hot drinks (like coffee or tea) available. Cold beverages only. Good service. Quiet on a Wednesday at lunchtime. Fine for all ages and occasions, though not really a special occasion kind of place. Lots of free parking. Handicapped accessible.

Had to update the review. Just left the restaurant, was seated and sat at the table for 10 to 15 minutes with no waitress ever showing up. Eventually just walked out. I don’t know that I would go back.

Mike & Tony’s is a local Greek restaurant with the newest location in the North Hills. Overall I thought the food was just average. You only get 5 mozzarella sticks per order and the sauce with it was cold and it was $8.50! The highlights for me were the lemon chicken soup and the fries that came with the fish. We went during happy hour with half price apps and still spent over $60. I think for the price we spent, the food was a bit lacking but you can check out my full review at the link to my blog in my bio!

Plenty of parking. Prices were reasonable for the surrounding area. Attentive and friendly waitress. The restaurant was pretty trashed but I was there after the rush. Surprisingly, the food was just okay! I was expecting so much more Pizzazz from M&T Gyros! The vintage pay phone near the entry door was epically nostalgic!

I was so excited for this place open. I am a huge gyro fan, and visit many places to sample. This gyro is just average, and quite bland. The sauce tasted like plain sour cream. Very disappointed. Server had no personality, but did a decent job. There are many better places to go to enjoy gyros. Although we aren’t interested in returning, I will say that the onion rings were cooked well, and the French fries are very good! I hope this helps the management/ownership decide to upgrade the recipes a bit as I live close and want to like the gyros here. Just can’t support this place at this time. Good luck to you!

A typical neighborhood bar with an eating area. There’s nothing Greek about their food. The advertises itself as having freshest lamb BUT there’s NO fresh lamb meat.
—- Gyros are processed meat and CANNOT be considered fresh. That said, Greek gyros are served piping hot carved from a rotating pit.
The so-called Greek sauce is nothing more than oil and vinegar, which does NOT even have a whiff of olive oil and sweet/ tart vinegar.
Their “gyro sauce” is a tasteless low quality, yogurt-like cream.
—— Real sauce for real Greek gyros is freshly made Tzatziki ! Anything less is cannot claim Greek nor gyro sauce.
The menu is mostly a listing of fast food so common in bars.
—- Many are fried , not the sort that a Greek cook normally does.
—- Lots of “cheesy” stuff, most the cheese are dead processed cheeses.
— Real greek cheeses are alive!
The food is nevertheless eatable.
The gyros in the gyro salad is lukewarm, indicating Pre-carved and re-heated.
Service is good but the server has no clue what Greek food is.
— Asking recommendations what he likes is futile .
The bar looks lively and serves beers and cocktails.
The dining room is quite spacious.
The very loud music, in an almost empty dining room dampens any sense of eating enjoyment.

I am so glad that Pittsburgh’s legendary Mike & Tony’s moved into the old Kretzlers Tavern, renovating it inside and out, and bringing their outstanding gyros to the North Hills. Their chicken gyro was so good. A soft, warm pita was jam packed with perfectly seasoned chicken, fresh onions, lettuce and tomato and a tangy gyro sauce. Just really, really good.
We also has the potato skins and grape leaves. The potato skins were one of the best I ever had. They were fried perfectly without being greasy. Their inside was fluffy and they were topped with flavorful bacon and cheese.
The grape leaves were authentic and refreshing.
I can’t wait to go back!

This is not the Mike & Tony of my hungover visits on the South Side but this is a great gyro place for the North Hills. Gryos are good. On the last visit I had a gyro wrap which was really good. I got a side salad and it was huge! I recommend it here

I really wish I was kidding with this review but I’m not. The food was phenomenal but unfortunately half way through my gyro I bit into something hard. I pulled it from my mouth and it was a staple. I’m just glad I didn’t chip a tooth or anything but it totally ruined Mike and Tony’s for me.

As native Pittsburgher I grew up knowing great Italian and Greek food. The Greek Festival is just as much a part of our family as Christmas or Easter. Mike & Tony hold that tradition even when it’s not Greek festival time. Great Gyros not only lamb but chicken and steak, plus amazing spinach pies too. I live in North Carolina now, but a trip home ain’t a trip home without Mike and Tony’s !!!
